She threw out a statistic earlier in the discussion that came from known white supremacists with shoddy research practices, and is now using Bill Cosby as her primary source in her argument that African-Americans are inferior. It's SO pathetic.

and my reaction to the study (didn't read it too closely - just a skim) - would probably suggest that homicide rates are higher among denizens of high poverty, densely populated areas - less about race. I say that as one who has worked and or lived in three per capita "murder capitol" of the country cities at the times when those cities earned the dubious distinction (DC, Detroit, and East Palo Alto).

She's trying to make her point by citing stats that indicate that there is a disproportionately high number of homicide offenders and victims in the black community compared to the white community in the US. She's taunting you into a fight over cause (she wants you to cite poverty for some reason - which I would be interested in exploring), and she is clearly stating that the color of ones skin is an indicator of the likelihood that one will be involved in committing violent crimes - which would be pretty easy to refute! :-)

But I would stop being polite with this kind of shit-bag; drop the respectful debate crap (well, the moron statement was a pretty good start - bottom line is she doesn't deserve respect), and go for destroying her core beliefs, which I'm still willing to bet is caught up in some variant of indentity xtianity.

However, the only references I can find to that particular statistic are tied to a racist group called the New Century Foundation, which has known white supremacy ties (Stormfront, etc.), and is generally believed to have questionable research practices. From 1976 to 2005 --

* 86% of white victims were killed by whites
* 94% of black victims were killed by blacks

do the math and you get 14% black on white, 6% white on black, NOT 50X
