Domestic oil drilling threatens national security
In the 1950s and '60s domestic producers, mostly small independents, ranted and raved about the national security implications of foreign oil. They sought government hand outs and subsidies for domestic oil production. They got them and as a result domestic oil production hit Peak Oil in 1973.

Now we are dependent on foreign oil. In an increasingly unsettled world we are at greater risk from global supply disruptions. Our economy and our military will shut down overnight without its life blood.

We must conserve our domestic oil as an urgent matter of national security!

The world's supply of oil will eventually dwindle and costs will ever increase. We need to develop alternative energy sources as soon as possible to protect our national security. Oil is unparalleled as an energy input so it should be preserved for the most dire needs, not wasted by greedy individuals for short term profit.

Why don't we learn the lessons of the past? Where are the national leaders who will step up and show some responsibility for our posterity? Why do we continue to ignore basic facts?
