Hal Lindsey says Obama is the "antichrist"
Hal Lindsey, is the fundy jerk who wrote a book, "The Late Great Planet Earth."
In that book, he said that the Soviet Union would start WW 3, and pave the way for the "antichrist."
Naturally, Lindsey was dead wrong. Period.

Most of these "entimes doom prophets" faded back into the woodwork.
But not Hal Lindsey.
He's a writer at WingNutDaily...I mean WorldNetDaily, the nuttiest far-right web site that claims to be a "news site."

Here's Hal Lindsey's latest moronic screed:

America has never faced so many different crises at the same time in living memory. The war with al-Qaida and Islamic terror, the Iran crisis, Afghanistan, nuclear proliferation, the rising price of oil, the falling dollar, enemy acronyms like OPEC, NAM, OIC, U.N. ... Obama is correct in saying that the world is ready for someone like him – a messiah-like figure, charismatic and glib and seemingly holding all the answers to all the world's questions.

And the Bible says that such a leader will soon make his appearance on the scene. It won't be Barack Obama, but Obama's world tour provided a foretaste of the reception he can expect to receive.

He will probably also stand in some European capital, addressing the people of the world and telling them that he is the one that they have been waiting for. And he can expect as wildly enthusiastic a greeting as Obama got in Berlin.

The Bible calls that leader the Antichrist. And it seems apparent that the world is now ready to make his acquaintance.

I'd say Hal Lindsey has been hit much too often with a big family Bible.
Or else, he's simply a "prophet for profit."

1. Fundies & Freepers say that about every Dem presidential candidate
And probably about several of the down-ballot candidates, as well.

20. Yeah I thought Bill Clinton was the antichrist.
Then it was Gore, then Kerry, and Hillary too!

Can't they make up their minds on who it is?

Did Obama bring your family and your nation break-ass debt? No.
Did Obama trash the natural world you and your children depend upon for survival? No.
Did Obama lie your nation into a brutal, needless, ill-fated oil-profits Crusade? No.
Did Obama bring you a police state. No.
Does Obama belong to an occult elitist cabal like Skull & Bones. No.

4. Jeez, and after watching late night cable tv, I thought Michael York was the antichrist
I saw some Paul Crouch movie, in which Michael York was the antichrist. It was amusing, to say the least.

6. Amusing? It was freaking HILARIOUS!

You must be talking about Megiddo: The Omega Code 2.

If I hadn't already been an atheist, this movie would have likely turned me into one.

Not that I'm alone. This turkey had something to offend almost everybody. I lost track of all the plots and counter-plots, but I think most of Europe was portrayed as evil, along with the Chinese. Or maybe the Chinese helped the Xians, I forget.

Jewish and Muslim viewers can be offended by the copious quantities of ham on the screen. Along with York chewing up the scenery, we get Michael Biehn of the "Terminator" looking embarasssed, and rightly so. Plus the funniest Diane Venora role of her career, narrowly edging out her scar-faced KGB agent in "The Jackal."

Satanists can be offended by the Devil's very poor CGI work. A 7-year-old with a laptop could crank out better special effects.

I really loved the way the Michael York character visibly shrank. The actor playing the "young" Michael York was at least a head taller than York.

Another highlight: the awesome battle of Armageddon. The producers could only afford to rent one tank, and it kept driving by the camera.

Oh, there just aren't enough ROFLs in the universe...

I caught it a few years ago, when TBN was trying to raise money over the Xmas holidays. They had this thing running 24/7, along with the two Left Behind movies and some other masterpieces in the Apocalypse Genre. I don't believe any mainstream Hollywood comedy has ever made me laugh so much.

5. He's not saying that Obama is the anti-christ
Edited on Fri Aug-01-08 03:21 PM by ellacott
He's saying that the anti-christ would be received in a similar manner as Obama. This is a quote from the article:

"And the Bible says that such a leader will soon make his appearance on the scene. It won't be Barack Obama, but Obama's world tour provided a foretaste of the reception he can expect to receive."

9. no GW got that reception back in 2001-2002 and he also
promised to "rid the world of evil"- promising peace, (while waging war).

Mr. Lindsay's a false prophet. And a fearmonger.

11. I'm not defending Hal Lindsey
I'm just saying that the article doesn't state that he believes Obama is the anti-christ(as the title of this post says).

with the truth.

That's a trusty old republicon homelander christofascist technique. Don't actally say 'it' - whatever it might be -- just imply 'it' and then sit back and smirk while everyone goes into outrage mode (smearing the non-issue ever more widely) and shrug your shoulders saying "What me? Why I do declare, I'm as innocent as can be. Smirk."

McSame's campaign just did it with the "Obama might be playing the race card" set up. and now the corporate media organ just keeps playing the non-issue and denials and counter denials over and over and over -- deepening the warped groove in the public mind.

Meanwhile, the republicon homelander christofascist perpetrators cackle with insane, perverse glee as they crawl back into their slime-infested krypts.

14. I agree, the title isn't accurate.
He's merely making a comparison. It's quite clear that he's not calling Obama the anti-christ.

18. I remember my Mom reading that book
in the 70's. It was a great conversation piece. Of course, Lindsay was spot on about a lot, but seriously folks, most of the bible has to do with fairy tales, grand storytelling. My Mom used to say that she thought that the anti-christ was not a person but a thing! And she thought that thing was GREED!!!!

21. Nope, Repug Hal Lindsey is the Antichrist or Bush or McCain. Only a republican can be the Antichrist
Edited on Fri Aug-01-08 04:56 PM by LaPera
Republicans hate soldiers, workers, the poor and everyone that's not rich, white and a corporation....

BUT republicans pretend they care for the poor and will do things for them....

But the republicans always lie about what they will do for the people, then get elected and serve only their own, the rich and the corporations.

That's what the Antichrist is, fooling the people, a liar...a Republican!
