13. I sure felt it.
We live on the fourth (and top) floor of our apartment building. I am at home today, and am not cuddling a very terrified cat!

We had lots of figurines that fell over in a curio, and some other things fall off bookshelves and such... but nothing broken, so I'll count my lucky stars on that!

I grew up in San Francisco and remember the 1989 earthquake there quite vividly. Whenever I feel a shake, I get so nervous.

16. It'll be interesting to see what fell on my floors when I get home.
Then again, my apartment is such a mess that I doubt I'll know the difference. :silly:

I wonder how the cat took it?

21. Just got an email message
from our office in Irvine that the phone systems are "backed up" but if you keep trying, calls go through eventually. That was probably referring to land lines, though...

I was in our Data Center working on a server when I felt several pressure changes. I thought someone was opening and closing the door. Then I felt the floor sway a bit. At first I just thought I was a little dizzy, but then I saw the server racks sway a little also. Didn't last for too long, maybe 10 seconds or so. I did a quick walk-thru once things if felt stable to ensure we had no problems.

Edited to add my location: This was in San Diego

26. Coastal Ventura County - felt it! It was my assistant's 1st quake (she's from NJ)
She said she was waiting to see how I'd react, and since I didn't panic neither did she. But she's a little - ahem- shook up.

Phone (cell and landline) were out for about 40-45 mins.

31. Yep, and it lasted for a while!
I was in the middle of working with a student
in Home Teaching.

We were studying science, specifically ocean currents
and temperature variations

After we calmed down her many animals and saw everyone
was OK, I switched the lesson to earthquakes.

It was a good size quake that we definitely felt for at least
40+ seconds.
