Re: O'Reilly "Enough spinning going on to weave a rug" Naples (FL) News columnist
Follows a portion of and a link to a column by Brent Batten, printed in the Naples News today

I found this linked on www.sweetjesusihatebilloreilly.com

<snip> "O’Reilly is a stickler for details. He regularly points out the media’s shortcomings, particularly when they report on him.

For example, Mitchell contacted me on Jan. 30 after I ribbed O’Reilly for calling the Naples Daily News, a paper with as conservative an editorial page as you’ll find, a “left-wing cabal.” (emphasis mine)

Had I actually heard the comment? Mitchell wanted to know. Had I taken O’Reilly’s remarks out of context?

I said a reader reported the statements to me but I paid $5 to become a member of billoreilly.com so I could listen to the archive version for myself. I told him if he could come up with some other context for the statement, “The Naples paper you mean? That’s a left-wing cabal down there. You know how it is.” I’d be happy to consider it. He said he’d go back and listen to the tape. I didn’t hear back from him until two weeks later when I sought an explanation for the change in speakers.

Bottom line: On-air O’Reilly presides over what he calls a “No Spin Zone.” When it comes to his canceled appearance in Naples, there’s enough spinning going on to weave a rug. (E-mail Brent Batten at [email protected])" <snip>

So, it wasn't really the fact that O'Reilly is an blithering dickhead when it comes to kidnapped teenagers. That insensitivity didn't lead to his speaking engagement at an organization whose purpose is to help locate kidnapped teenagers being canceled. No. It was a "scheduling conflict". Mr. Batten's column makes it sound as if the NCMEC is spinning just as hard as O'Reilly.
