4. It's not raining...just thundering and windy...dark skies so far...
Edited on Sun Jul-27-08 04:27 PM by Breeze54
But I'd be happy to send you any rain! We've had quite enough lately!!

Thursday we had 5" of rain in a lot of places and flooded roads everywhere in MA.

NH had a really bad tornado, with lots of damaged homes and a woman was killed.

AKK!! Big nasty clap of thunder just now!! The winds are high...tree's bending over...

... it might be raining now... sounds like the road is wet, as the cars are driving by...

:scared: There's another thunder clap... I hate this shit.

It's pouring now to beat the band. Coming down in sheets.

7. All these severe T-Storms, over and over, is weird for July, I think.
I might as well move to Florida with all this constant high humidity. :sarcasm:

That'll never happen!

You're not that far from me!! :hi: neighbor! :D

as we stepped outside, the rain and wind started, and we ran for the parking lot-
the wind was blowing so hard, drips of ice-cream were going sideways with my son yelling:

Edited on Sun Jul-27-08 05:19 PM by AllieB
It is getting really old, I agree! It reminds me of Florida. We get a thunderstorm almost every day. Very strange for MA!

I should also add that the mosquitos are the size of small birds as a result of all the rain.

14. It was WILD here last night!
We were sleeping in our yurt when lightning hit right nearby. If you've never been in a yurt (after all, who has?), there is very little sound insulation. You feel like you're right outside in the thick of it. It was a scary night/morning.

And I'm from Cocoa Beach, Florida..."afternoon thunderstorms" are a way of life. But this storm last night was kinda hair-raising.

15. Hi Atman! What the H is a 'yurt' ? A tent?
You're nuts! :P I would've been in my car or a building or something!

Be careful! :hi: It's quieted down here now. I got off line for a few

because the lightening was really, really close.

17. Well, it's a "tent," but not really.
It's a huge tent with a wooden frame. Ours has gas heat and a kitchen. We had a huge tree branch fall on the roof a few years ago...10 feet long, several inches thick...it just bounced off the roof into the trees. Yurts are awesome. Put it up in 3-4 hours, fits in the back of a pickup truck. Ours has been up for almost eight years now, through gnarly New England winters. Here's a start...the google will bring you more info...

21. Thanks, Charles. It's clearing up now...
... still raining but no more thunder that I can hear right now.

I think the worst may have passed but I probably shouldn't say that! :P

The air is cooling some now but up in NH, the storms still look bad on that radar map.

for DUers to go who need information or advice to prepare for bad weather or for help!

There's been so many people having disasters all over the USA and many are members here.

Torrential downpours every other day, crazy lightning, etc. For like 2 weeks now. I was just one the phone with my Ex, and he was telling me about the crazy lightning out in W. MA today. We were in RI, thunder and rain, back in Quincy now, rain, rain, lightning, rain. Bah.
