Bush Lets American Workers Die by Handcuffing OSHA - Bush History,7/26

The Bush admin lets US workers die by stopping OSHA from regulating discovered hazards, to the delight of Bush's corporate benefactors. Also, by 2005 most Americans think Bush purposely misled on Iraq, and come 2007 Bush tries to mislead on Iraq (again) by falsely claiming (over and over) that it is terrorism's "central front". That's not what the experts say.

1. It is the whole mind set that business can police itself.
I think people go like in a wave on this. Up and down on just what is to be controlled. Heck just look at driving a car and how it has gone since I started to drive in the 50's. Frankly I think we are better off with all the rules on roads, cars, and who can drive but it is just how I think. If you do not look at the history of this type stuff it looks like the govt. is to much into your life. Face it, can one think that business would have done half this stuff with out the govt. telling them to do it. If we want this type society we live in, it has to have rules for ALL.

2. I agree izzie
Sensible regulation benefits us all. Thousands and thousands of lives are saved in auto accidents, for example, by safer cars. And though cars cost somewhat more, the requirement that ALL cars have certain safety equipment means that the price per car is significantly less than if the equipment were not required. Then there are the savings in medical care for all the people who will NOT spend their lives in wheelchairs and respirators because of the safety equipment in cars. So apart from the desire of all of us to protect our loved ones, sensible regulation makes sense on a pure financial basis as well.
