Nevada GOP cancels convention
http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2008/07/18/nevada-gop-cancels-convention-opts-for-conference-call/

Citing a lack of interest, the Nevada Republican Party has called off its state convention and will instead pick its delegates to the national convention by private conference call.

The state party broke up its original convention in April when supporters of Ron Paul hijacked the proceedings and tried to elect delegates for their candidate to the national GOP convention in September. Party officials tried to reconvene on July 26, but they needed a quorum of 675 and received only 300 RSVPs, according to local reports.

3. They cancelled their first convention?
They cancelled their convention in the first place because the candidate they didn't want to win had out-maneuvered the elites? Is that how I should read this story? And now they're cancelling it all together because they can't even get 675 Republicans in Nevada to show up

38. He will, thanks to Yucca Mountain
and the Bush administration's plans to use it to dump all the nation's nuclear waste. Nevada. with its strong unions and increasingly favorable demographics, has been looking better and better. If McCain keeps on going there to tout the many advantages of Yucca Mountain, it could be an easy pickup for Obama.

He can/should campaign there.

20. Wait, it gets better.
Mo' good stuff:

The news provides further evidence of a fractured and unenthusiastic Republican Party in some parts of the country. Last week, the GOP nominee in a North Carolina congressional race suspended his campaign while he confronted fissures in his own party. Polling suggests a significant “enthusiasm gap” on the part of Republican voters this year, which has left the party’s candidate, Sen. John McCain, trailing Democratic rival Sen. Barack Obama in the presidential contest.

26. You read and hear stuff like this, but the media gerbils keep propping McCain up
and reporting that he's ahead or virtually even with Obama. But you don't hear the gerbils reporting on the undercurrent of the Republican party. All you hear about is "Obama is using his overseas trip as a photo op" or "Obama's minister uses inflammatory remarks" or "Michelle Obama's remarks were unpatriotic" or "Obama is using his kids as a photo op."

Librul media my ass.

41. more support is going to build for this candidate as the economy implodes
It's all about the Federal Reserve with this guy and his followers, at least from what I can tell here in Jersey. I teach in higher education and in some of my classes, I have a high number of immigrants. There are substantial numbers of young people supporting Paul. I've noticed the ones who do, though, are from countries where they are afraid of any kind of socialism--the eastern European countries, Russia, and some from Cuba.

Even the other day at a shopping center, I saw a car parked with a huge banner on each side: "Ron Paul for President."

I think what happened in Nevada is just the beginning.
