On the other hand, it was hardly a "propaganda piece". That was a story about a young man who went to fight a shitty and meaningless war and has returned home scarred and is trying to dig out, against a lot of odds. He's just one of a legion of them as well. We are gonna be swamped with young men and women just like him, if we aren't already.

What the fuck is wrong with this place anymore? Is empathy no longer found on DU?

but hopeful as you said. My sons are probably about his age (did he say?) and I can't imagine having them deal with something this bad. Wait until all these families see what a sham this war and occupation is. The anger will be unfathomable and rightly so.

Yes, hope and rage. Two things we have all become accustomed to since the selection. I want to feel good again but then we have to somehow help all of the soldiers coming home like this. It will be hard to ever feel good again because it will take a long time to heal them.

Sending healing thoughts and peace to those who have had those things ripped away from them.

I went with my husband to his first VA appt. We were stared at from the moment we got out of our car to the moment we left the building. We both felt weird, but the doctors could not have been better! Fortunately he has received excellent care from his VA docs.
