Prosecutor flagged by US terror watch list

Associated Press - July 14, 2008 5:13 PM ET

WASHINGTON (AP) - Former Assistant Attorney General Jim Robinson thinks the government's terror watch list needs to be fixed.

That's because he's on it -- and says he shouldn't be.

The Justice Department's former top criminal prosecutor says he believes his name matches that of someone who was put on the list in early 2005. And, even though he had his own government top-secret security clearances renewed last year, he's routinely delayed while flying.

Robinson calls it "a pain in the neck" and says he expects there are hundreds of thousands of people in the same situation.

The government created the list after the 9-11 attacks to consolidate 12 existing lists and make sure no terrorists slipped through the cracks.

2. It's a problem when it affects them. For everyone else, not so much.
The radio report I heard about this said there are now over a million people on this so-called "terror watch list." What a joke. We're living in a Stalinist country.
