We are getting out of Iraq ..... Fox News
Edited on Sun Jul-13-08 12:45 PM by Botany
I was just channel surfing and some Fox lip gloss woman
said (rough quotes) "Now with the success of the surge
we can look forward to a draw down in U.S. troops now that
the goals of the mission have been accomplished."

3 things

Fox is a mouthpiece for bush / Cheney so I doubt they would be saying
this without the o.k. from the White House.

Just what the hell have we accomplished in Iraq?

Is anybody going to be held accountable for getting us into this mess
and all the death, blood, and treasure that it has cost?

Edit

And I forgot that going into Iraq allowed Afghanistan to become a real problem
because we were spending our energies in Iraq rather than the home of al Qaeda
and the Taliban.

The timing of this is more than suspect.

3. Well, didn't you hear, Exxon finally got their lifetime contract to exploit the oil
resources from the Iraqi people... so, why stay much longer, when Iran is where they're sending our troops next?

6. Those oil contracts will not be worth shit w/ out an army to back 'em up.
No way will the Iraqis turn over their oil to outsiders .... it will be nationalized w/
in weeks of our troops being gone.

5. We've accomplished what we went there for -
gaining a presence in that oil-filled part of the world.

Since the oil companies are now signed on again with the Iraqi government, and we've built an Embassy (essentially a small city in itself, according to Noam Chomsky), we will be the stewards of All That Oil.

Took a while, but I'm sure they feel it's worth it. :grr:

7. We killed Saddam Hussein!
Edited on Sun Jul-13-08 12:58 PM by Benhurst
And to do it, we bombed the hell out of a country which had done nothing to us, killed over a million innocent civilians and lost over 4,000 of our own troops.

As for what it cost, God only knows. Oh and, of course, Dick Cheney.

Now it looks as though those mean Iraqis aren't even going to let us have our permanent bases, to say nothing of their oil.

15. They were probably referring to this
WASHINGTON — The Bush administration is considering the withdrawal of additional combat forces from Iraq beginning in September, according to administration and military officials, raising the prospect of a far more ambitious plan than expected only months ago.

16. Like I said in another post.
Now Bush and Israel can invade Iran. We accomplished the covert mission in Iraq. We secured the oil fields for the international oil companies who have been running our country under Bush. No one will be held accountable unless Nancy Pelosi allows impeachment proceedings to begin.
