Question for you: If you had a chance to interact with ....
someone who lived in Nazi Germany as a youth, served in both the Nazi Army (as a teen...at gunpoint) and subsequently the US Army in WWII, would you like the opportunity to ask questions?

I have been working with an 82-year-old gentleman to gather his thoughts, and memorabilia, to begin writing his memoirs.

Given the current state of our nation, I certainly have been asking his opinion of how things stand, based on his experience and rather unusual perspective.

Again, given the precarious place we find ourselves in as far as disappearing civil liberties and so forth, I find his thoughts rather fascinating as they pertain to current events.

I thought about starting a blog or another interactive site where people can pose questions: political, social, etc.

He's a very, very intelligent, thoughtful gentleman, with an interesting worldview. He also is in touch with many peers who stayed and still live in East Germany and other European countries, and their perspectives are invaluable as well.

Would you have any interest in posing questions of this gentleman? I like to think my thought process and questions are rather universal and cover all bases, but that's probably a little silly on my part. He is a treasure trove and I feel selfish keeping our interactions regarding current events to myself. LOL.

The experience with this gentleman has led me to create a national program to pair high school students (I'm working with high school creative writing teachers) and local senior citizens to get these stories and perspectives on paper and/or on tape (with anything published to raise funds within the community). So much wisdom and insight is wasted in our society...a respect for elders is one of our fatal flaws, IMHO.

(no time to proof, hope this makes sense)

2. Wonderful. Thank you so much for the response....
I'm sitting here a little stunned. Here is this gentleman with an amazing story to tell, and he just wrote to me, saying that I am the first person to express an interest in helping him share his story. Stunning. He also sees me as a therapist of sorts. Ouch. LOL
