MAKE IT STOP. GOD. PLEASE. MAKE IT STOP.
I was sorry to hear it happened.
But now I want to see something besides Tim Russert Adoration 24hrs a day on my NEWS channel!!!!!!!
Why are they setting this precedent?
He was NOT what I'd call a great man.
I don't get it and now I'm getting really angry.

Is anyone seeing any public or media blowback from this other than here at DU?

2. Engravers at the vatican are working on his headstone as we speak..

The headstone will be 4 city blocks long..to encompass all the mighty works & kind words due a man such as St Tim of Timmalo, NY..staunch fan of his beloved Timmalo Tims..

There is some worry that the headstone way still be too small, so teams have set off across the world in search of a suitable location for the pyramid of Tim, which will undoubtedly be needed to hold all the accolades & tribute from the world..

I actually enjoyed some of the coverage today...I didn't turn it off until the post-tribute coverage that happened about 5 minutes ago when Chris Matthews had a big REVELATION that Tim Russert's death PROVES that Barack Obama was WRONG and made a HUGE MISTAKE when he said people are bitter...because Tim wasn't religious because he was bitter! Oh yes, it proves everything. Because Chris, that is EXACTLY what Obama was trying to say! Haha.

5. You could always change the channel.
Or turn off the tv altogether. Send an e-mail or a letter or make a phone call to NBC.

MAKE IT STOP. GOD. PLEASE. MAKE IT STOP. (all of the complaining)

9. I agree with you. He wasn't a great man. Nor was he a good reporter.
However the f'd up MSM feels otherwise so do like the rest of us and tune to something else until this crap passes.

10. I have seen none of it.
Not a bit. Not one second. Not a nanosecond. Not a femtosecond.

I don't have a TV, you see.

I recommend the experience. Remember: There is 1.3 Billion people in China who don't know who Tim Russert was, and that number is growing every minute.

The media's biggest story for the past several days has been what?..... A member of the media.

Think about the illogic when a reporter is more important that the real news. It really highlights the level of triviality/shallowness of what the media has become.

29. Not bizarre. Imperial Amerika is an aristocratic nation who's core belief is "Superior" Privilege
("superior" being what Leo Strauss, the leading neocon philosoper, calkled the criminal Bushies...the rest of us are "inferiors")

What you are just seeing is the natural trend and outgrowth as Old America is erased from existance except as memory and window-dressing. It will get worse, almost certainly.

But an aristocrat has died. A powerful aristocrat who served his powerful masters well. He died, and his Masters (not that he had a whole lot of them, he was a High Courtier of the Bush Family, after all) are in mourining. Where will they find a transparent shill who yet was trusted by millions when he lied to and manipulated them? It's getting harder and harder for the Bushie Superiors to fool us dumb Inferiors in that way.

Therefore, if the American Aristocracy mourns, so must we, the Herd of Inferiors (at least, as the Bushies and Russerts see us) mourn.

It is a common occurance seen in all countries, like Amerika, that are not free.

In Imperial Rome, many were murdered for showing insufficient grief for various Emperors' relatives and lackeys by the Plebes (Inferiors, as the Bushies call us). In Shaka's Zulu Empire, it was worse. When his mother died, the entire Empire shut down, and tens of thusands were murdered for showing insufficient grief.

I guess we are lucky that Imperial Amerika isn't as far along that path yet. No one is being beaten or murdered for insufficient grief over Bushie Timmeh of Russert, NY.

I am so proud.

:sarcasm:

30. I was one of the first ones out the gate with a "Cheney Ass Licker" thread
and believe me, I suffered the slings and arrows of the Ms Manners Club here.. But its Personal in a Way.. Not that his support for a fake war that's killed probably millions, old folks, starving kids, our troops, isnt bad enough..

What really pissed me off is that I was able to turn away from CNN's total crap reports and shifty election Bingo graphics to MSNBC, where it LOOKED like some folks were actually Trying to Report News..

Then they started tossing Saint Timmeh's body around like a crowd trying to rip off a piece of the Ayatolla (which the crowd DID when HE Died), and it became Insufferable.

I thought that KO who appeared heart-broken, sniffly missing a fellow news guy, would be the no nonsense voice there, and get them all back on the stick.. A blue pic of Russert with dates of Birth & Death on it shown at breaks/commercials, then a two hour Honor show, full of shit but slightly entertaining schlock..

Nope. It aint over, and I think the "Fat Lady" died too, she's nowhere Near the Stage ready to end this..

In a weird way I think its backlash from the loss of the Clinton/Obama constant news battle.. They were used to running with One News Item, and when it stopped they were at a loss, too many items bombarding them all at once, so they ran with the Annointed One's demise instead, easier..

I really wonder what the advertisers think about all this, and also if everyone Changed the Channel since then, I mean I gotta have my KO each day, my news program, but now I'm gunshy, I sort of don't trust them any more...

May take me a while to get back into my shows there, I'm basically Icked out, creeped out.. Like finding out something about a hottie when the clothes come off that sends you slipping out the door to take your Coke bottles back to the store for the Rebate, instead of lustily jumping in the sack..

They've lost the small amount of "trust" I've allowed any News Org since Bush stole the Office..
