6. Maybe the "communication" part of their brains is overdeveloped at the expense of everything else.
Plenty of people out there with excellent interpersonal skills, who are nonetheless dumb as a rock when it comes to "book smarts."

15. Do you count journalism majors amongst that blanket condemnation?
Because if you do, nice "predjudice" YOU've got going there.

And yes, for the record, Olbermann WAS a communications major, and he hardly fits into your stereotype.

Most of us wouldn't be caught dead making stupid typos in our work product. Some of us get paid not to.

As for the math, science, computing and engineering majors I met during my college career...well, many of them couldn't spell for shit, but at least I knew better than to insult them by assuming that just because they couldn't spell, they were "close to the bottom of the barrel in terms of intellect."

Sheesh.

Not this time.

We need to stay positive. They will try the old schick and it will fail. They will knock themselves out by the force of their own blows.

Not This Time.

11. Racist threads are suspiciously too abundant on this board.
I believe that their underlying purpose is an attempt to keep the focus on the fact that Obama is an
African American. This is right out of Rove's book.

13. That is not what I meant.
It is possible to stigmatize any attribute of a candidate by certain types of manipulations.

Psst! Did you know that Obama's mother blah, blah, blah? Do you think that will hurt his chances to be elected?

The very fact that the question is posed, just for gossips sake, has an underlying implication that there may be something wrong with his mother otherwise there would be no question.

I think you already understood my first post.

The continuing questions and gossiping about the topic are, in my opinion, attempts to imply that there is something innately bad about his being an African American.

14. You complained about "racist posts", implying that any mention of race whatsoever is "racist."
That is bunk and nobody with a brain believes it. Ignoring the fact that for many people his race IS a paramount issue does nothing to ameliorate the problem. I don't know if ostriches actually stick their heads into the sand but a lot of humans do.

16. I see people who work with words being stigmatized here.
Funny about DU...being racist is and should be unacceptable here, but jumping to conclusions about people's intelligence based on their college major, or on whether or not they even went to college, is perfectly fine with some people.

"racist".

I'm willing to discuss any issue that has a potential for better understanding.

However, the point I have tried to express is that I feel that the topic of race is being brought up
to harm Obama and help McCain, not to have honest discourse about race issue.

You disagree with my theory. That's your prerogative.
