Wes Clark for VP!
Edited on Sun Jun-08-08 12:29 PM by Krashkopf
My friend and I discussed it over the weekend, and we have decided that Barack Obama can stop searching for a VP as of today.

THE best choice for VP is Wes Clark!

As a retired "4 Star" General, he more than balances McCains alleged advantage in national security.

As former Supreme Allied Commander of NATO he understands the importance of maintaining and strenghening Stategic Alliances.

As the Valedictorian of his class at West Point, and a Rhodes Scholar, he is plenty smart enough for the job

Having been raised in Arkansas, he would appeal to some of the "Bubbas" who are resistant to the idea of a black President.

And, as a strong supporter of Bill and Hillary Clinton, so, he should be able to reach out to the Hillary supporters.

What's not to like?

2. Maybe a cabinet position, but not the VP
We don't need a "khaki election" in this country. Since Ike, I don't think there's ever been someone who had never held any elective office on the D or R ticket.

3. It took an Eisenhower to warn against the dangers of "The Military/Industrial Complex" . . .
If ONLY America had listened.

Maybe it takes a Clark to credibily warn against another unnecessary war, this time against IRAN.

OBAMA/CLARK 2008!

7. Our military deserves him.
Shutting down operations in Iraq is going to be a hard task. And it's going to take a generation to rebuild the military post-Iraq. Wes is a fine architect of that process.
He needs to be VP or Chairman of the Joint Chiefs or a position where he can have major influence.

11. I don't think Clark qualifies for secretary of defense
I've read around here a couple of times that he hasn't been retired long enough.
