Just when you think you have Bush outrage fatigue, this...

Over the years I have gotten pretty cynical, and almost tired of repeatedly getting pissed off at things the Bush/Cheney crooks do.

The Walter Reed scandal probably involves a lot more people... but on this one, the sheer gall to take a profit on the 911 survivors health and well being...... is jaw dropping sick!

As head of HHS, Tommy Thompson dragged his feet for years to help the 911 clean-up workers who were getting sick. Now his firm gets an $11 million contract to study their health.

How many of those 911 workers are going to die a slow, painful death because of his lack of action?!?

There are no words to describe the sheer greed and deadly ruthlessness of these people.

There's good money in reckless endangerment

Treat a cut immediately and nobody benefits. Wait for gangrene to take hold and lots of people can cash in. That appears to be the Republican governing philosophy.

Tommy Thompson's firm has won an $11 million contract through HHS to track the health of some 5000 workers who were exposed to toxic air while cleaning up the World Trade Center site. Thompson, head of HHS between 2001 and 2005, was heavily criticized for doing little to protect the workers or assist them as they became ill.

The former health chief under President Bush, criticized for not doing enough to help Ground Zero heroes, is now making millions off the 9/11 tragedy, tracking the health of sick workers.

Many of those ailing workers have been impoverished trying to pay for private health coverage. The Bush "administration" couldn't be bothered even to study the problem.

Late last year, the government halted an effort to organize health monitoring for ground zero workers spread around the U.S., saying the program could cost far more money than Congress has provided.

What the Bush "administration" was willing to do, characteristically, is privatize the (non-)solution to the health crisis and thus reward their pals. Every disaster created or exaccerbated by Republicans ultimately is an opportunity to make money.

4. our country is being run
by sick people, and our country is getting sicker all the time. an untreated disease rotting us to death.

your last sentence is right on the money. there is absolutely nothing that can't be mined to feed their greed. yet we cannot impeach even though the justice dept is run by a pack of bush whores and the courts have been stacked with bush whore judges. if impeachment was ever called for, it is the impeachment of this horrifically corrupt administration. yet it won't even be attempted?! it is so fucking frustrating.

it absolutely boggles my mind to think that i've been singing the same tune for YEARS, yet new outrages crop up daily and congress keeps on acting like it's just another day. i swear to gawd they're so bold and disgusting because they somehow know they can get away with it. i can't get fucking away with jaywalking for chrissake. what would they have to do to get congress off their ass and working to rid this country of the scourge that is the bush administration? can't they tell by now that every day the motherfuckers dream up another way to screw the people, and the world, and that they are the furthest thing from public servants possible?

eek. aaarrrgh

6. That's the privatization of the cover-up.
Does anyone really believe Tommy Thompson won't take the $11 million to 'report' that any and all health problems are "unrelated" to the clean-up? Of course he will. It's just fraud.

9. How many have been killed through neglect by these scum?
They are murderers, pure and simple, and I hope they choke on their ill-gotten gains, and their lavish feast of avarice turns to ashes in their mouth.

Alleviate the suffering? NO.

Help the afflicted? NO.

Work on ways to prevent future suffering? NO.

Get a contract to STUDY suffering?

Now you're talking.

13. It's an ugly world.
People have been profiting off the misfortune of others since the beginning of time. It's just that this particular administration has been balls out and unabashed about it from the door. No one will do anything about it.

14. Expect actions without conscience
from this administration because they are sociopaths. This vital piece of the puzzle has saved me time I used to spend wondering WTF/why/how these things have been going on...
This is one sick administration, and their pitiful attempt at appearing to care for people is glaringly inadequate. I sincerely believe that if there is one thing they have done to benefit anyone besides themelves, it is purely an accident.
