FEDERAL REBATE CHECK (A MUST READ)
spinbaby says this needed it's own post...

This from an email I just recieved...

The federal government is sending each and every one of us a $600 rebate.
If we spend it at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China.
If we spend it on gasoline, the money will go to the Arabs.
If we purchase a computer, it will go to India.
If we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala.
If we purchase a good car, it will go to Japan.
If we purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan, ... and none of it will help the American economy.
The only way to keep the money here at home is to spend it on prostitutes, weed, beer, and tattoos, since these are the only products still produced in the USA.

Thank you for your help and please support the US

1. You could spend it at a locally owned business.
Me, I'm paying off loans.

this way--doctor's visits (which supported local MD)
yard sales and thrift stores (which supported local economy)
donating to progressive Democrats running for the House (which supports US)

11. What I loved
Was the head of the treasury advising Americans to buy US produced goods..

They are so clueless about what they have done to the US economy . They actually believe we still produce things .

We paid off a loan with ours.

13. Since I am currently out of work, I put my rebate to good use.
My $600 was enough to pay my rent and utilities for a month as well as making a month's car payment. I don't think I stimulated the economy much, though.

24. Filled the propane tank with part of ours
to the tune of $527+. Propane is $2.199/gallon right now and I have no faith it will get cheaper. EVER.

The balance will go to paying off an evil credit card and purchasing repair materials for our siding.

Whoopee! I feel better now.

Well actually I do about the propane tank --- even though it was expensive. I dreaded that.

33. First off, the federal government is NOT sending each and every one $600. Some
people in the lower income brackets got only $300 and lots of us, middle class taxpayers, got none because we had income over $75,000.

You said first, just wondered what was second

I realize that not everyone got a check. Ours went straight to a savings account. I remember last time he gave us one of these "rebates" it was basically a loan on next years taxes. Be prepared.
