Obama expects GOP to attack his patriotism
NEW YORK - A day after he clinched the Democratic presidential nomination, Sen. Barack Obama said Wednesday that he expected an organized Republican attack on his integrity and patriotism because “it’s very hard for them to talk about where they want to take the country.”

1. GOOD. that's a good start..if patriotism means going foreign and killing civilians..
which is what our imperialistic, selfcentered nation has done.

2. In other breaking news, dog bites man...
Though one does wonder: why can't the dog bite a woman JUST ONCE???

3. In other news, water is wet.
Still, I'm kinda glad he said it--because it'll make the Republicans look silly when they do exactly this.

6. Good. Get the idea out in front before it happens.
Seriously, I mean this is good. Let it be known that you expect attacks BEFORE they happen. They will happen, and acknowledging them before hand is a good strategy.

8. The better watch how they throw around those accusations because
their nominee has some skeletons in his closet when it comes to loyalty with the whole POW, cutting deals with enemy rumors.

9. I recommend the pamphlet "The True Patriot" to Obama and everyone here.
http://www.amazon.com/True-Patriot-Eric-Liu/dp/1570615578

It is a prescient manifesto of Progressive right to the word "Patriotism".

It was hijacked by the right, and progressives largely conceded the use of the term. It is Ours! and it is Ours to take back!

12. Republicans are confused.
What they call patriotism, I'd call chauvinism. Or perhaps "Jingoism" would be the better term.

"To my country: I her dealings with other nations may she always be in the right, and if not in the right, then set right." - Stephen Decatur. Often misquoted.
