Poll question: What Part Of DU Does Your Primary Link/Bookmark Go To?
Edited on Sun Jun-01-08 12:03 PM by BlooInBloo
Just curious.

Mine used to be to GD, but when they did the frontpage makeover awhile back, I switched it to DU:Home to give it a fair chance. Now I'm thinking about changing it to DU: Discuss.

Where does your primary DU-entrance link go?

EDIT: Spurious smiley. Ooops.

4. Mine goes to My DU so I can see if people respond to my prior posts.

I figure if somebody took the time to read and respond, they should receive the same courtesy.

9. Thank you.

I like your poll.

It's always wild to see how differently people use the same site or device. I have done usability testing before, and they KNEW that nobody would ever use their product in certain ways. And then I'd walk in and screw up their whole model.

The best one ever was a project to test a fairly complicated device. I got it working in 3 minutes. But I showed them that their documentation was *SO* bad, and the product so convoluted that normal people would never make it work. (I had 10 years experience with similar stuff, so I figured it out.) The division canceled the product rather than spend more on helping people get it working than they would have made.

10. Yah - it can be a gas to write a program how you envisage it being used...
and then look at how people ACTUALLY use it. They're NEVER the same thing - lol!

12. I did software testing one time...
They put a headset and microphone on me, gave me a 1000 page manual without an index or table of contents, and then gave me a list of things to do.

Basically, they wanted to see if the GUI they laid over a Unix environment was self-explanatory. I found bugs all over the place. But to their credit, back in 1993, they had built a decent front end.

Of course I have had a massive head injury, so what do you expect.

Actually it's DU: Latest.

I try to avoid the Home and Greatest pages because many of the threads voted up are downright embarrassing.

14. You asked two different questions... My first link (from favorites), is
to the DU home page.. Which I peruse briefly. I then spend most of my time in GD, with frequent clicks to "latest" to see if there's something new & intriguing in, oh, science or labor or theology or anywhere else that pops up...
