Obama criticizes McCain on veterans' benefits

BAYAMON, Puerto Rico - Barack Obama told veterans Saturday that he can't understand why Republican John McCain opposes legislation that would provide college scholarships to people who have served in the U.S. military.

1. McCain wants permanent tax cuts for millionaires instead of education for soldiers
It's the easiest frame ever.

2. McCain didn't need benefits when he came back.

Don't get me wrong, I am not going to blast him on his service, or pretend to know what he thinks about anything. But I think he came from a prominant family and when he came home he probably had all the health care, education and such that he needed or wanted. He may not be able to understand how some soldiers come back unable to work at jobs they were once qualified to do, and need help to get their lifes back together. Those who have doors opened for them sometimes fail to understand what a struggle life is for those who do not. JMHO

6. From Wikipedia. . .
(After his release from captivity in March 19973) McCain underwent treatment for his injuries, including months of grueling physical therapy, and attended the National War College in Fort McNair in Washington, D.C. during 1973–1974. By late 1974 McCain had his flight status reinstated, and in 1976 he became commanding officer of a training squadron stationed in Florida. He turned around a mediocre unit and won the squadron its first Meritorious Unit Commendation. . . .

McCain served as the Navy's liaison to the U.S. Senate, beginning in 1977. He would later say it represented "(my) real entry into the world of politics and the beginning of my second career as a public servant". McCain played a key behind-the-scenes role in gaining congressional financing for a new supercarrier against the wishes of the Carter administration.

By (1979) McCain's naval career had stalled; it was unlikely he would be promoted further, because he had poor annual physicals and had been given no major sea command.

McCain retired from the Navy on April 1, 1981, as a captain, and headed west to Arizona. His military awards include the Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross, and National Order of Vietnam (Republic of Vietnam).

5. McLame was in the Navy as a Pilot & a mediocre one, at
best. He graduated from Naval College at the bottom of his class.
Does this qualify him to be Commander in Chief?
