The hardening of our nation continues unabated

I had occasion to drive past Walter Reed's 16th Street entrance today. I drove past it the last three days, actually, but only today did I notice a little 'project' under construction there. The place has always been surrounded by a high iron fence. But now they're installing what appear to be tank traps! The roadway in from 16th Street is now lined with huge, jagged boulders. It was hard to tell from the car, driving by, but they appeared to be four to six feet high. This was no landscaping project. It was, no doubt, related to 'security'.

Okayfine .... we need to be 'vigilant'.

But obvious shit like this really frosts my freedom loving ass.

3. Why Walter Reed? Why this level of paranoia for a HOSPITAL?

Even the presence of their mink lined VIP wing for Congressmen doesn't justify that kind of expense. In fact, until they fix all the wards were mere military citizens are treated, NOTHING justifies this expense.

This has got to be an example of the Pentagon wasting money it has in order to justify getting the same money adjusted for inflation next year.
