"McCain is too old to be President"
These words were spoken to me earlier today but not by a young or even a middle aged person. No, my mom said those very words today. And she's older than McCain. Now when senior citizens say things like that, even seniors who are avid Dems, one has to think maybe it's true.

2. That is not what the Constitution says.
I have bene working to show that McCain's judgement is impaited by his age. His inablity to keep the players strait in the middle east is a symptom of decrease mental acuity. He can not keep lieberman around to remind him of whats going on there all the time. But he is qualified in accordance with the Constitution, which has a minimum age but not a maximum age.

11. Then I hope they won't vote for him...
I'm just saying the Constitution doesn't set an upward limit to age. And considering Bush II, you don't have to be ancient to be incompetent.

3. I hear that a lot as well.
My answer is usually, I'd like to see who his VP candidate ends up being before I worry about age.

I can't stand any of the things that McCain can control, so I won't let the one he can't control bother me.

5. Is it merely his age she's objecting to, or the way he's been acting?
I'd have no problem with McCain's age if he exhibited sound mind and judgment, but he doesn't. Between Georgie, Ronald Reagan and my own mother, I know the signs of early dementia.

6. The reason a lot of seniors say McCain is too old is because they know what it's like to be old
They've been there and have experienced first-hand the effects of age.

9. I drive seniors to the polls.
What this thread is averring isn't born out by what they tell me. At all. Many of them are in pain, on walkers, holding themselves up with canes, and using those stupid scooters for anything more than a twenty foot perambulation.

Of course, it's all anecdotal, and who knows how it will play out, but there aren't many Obama supporters on the senior bus. In fact, there aren't ANY Obama supporters that have piped up to say so. And they love to talk, and opine, and compare and contrast.

Many of the ones in their eighties admire the fact that McCain "went to war" and they relate it to the whole WW2 thing, which is why he comes up second in this totally unscientific poll. They like Clinton for two principal reasons--health care/prescription drugs, and affordable college for the grandkids.

And of course, the geezer bashing doesn't endear them much, either.
