USA in 2009 will be like Germany in 1918
What will the future be like?
Obama will be the democratic nominee.
In November 2008 he will defeat McCain 55% to 45%.
In January 2009 he will begin the withdrawal of US-troops from Iraq.
The withdrawal will be finished in late spring. A few thousand US-soldiers will remain in Iraq, to protect the Green Zone.

And that when it will start. The ultimate lie. The ultimate smear campaign.
In Germany in 1918 the "Dolchstosslegende" came up, the "backstabbing-legend". The german army could have won WWI, but they were betrayed by forces from inside Germany. Be it the social-democrats, the communists, the Jews...

I predict, you will have exactly the same here in the US. The right-wing of the republican party, the right-wing-pundits will all agree on one thing:

"IT'S ALL THE DEMOCRATS FAULT! If only we would have stayed a bit longer in Iraq, we would have won. Victory was just around the corner! GWB had a marvelous plan for the middle-east and the democrats ruined it! Because of the democratic party, all those 4200 dead US-soldiers have died in vain!"

"The republican party could have led us to victory, but the democratic party led us to defeat. Thanks to the democratic party, the terrorists have won!"

"DEFEATOCRATS!"

Who dares to bet against me?

2. It could also be like Germany 1918
With run away hyper inflation causing us to carry around wheelbarrows of worthless dollars. I guess that will be the Democrat's fault too.

3. The Republicans will blame the Democrats for anything that goes wrong...
And I mean "anything", anywhere. That's their nature. They don't have anything to build on, so they tear down.

5. GOP will try but not succeed
In the last few years, GOP tried to reargue Vietnam along those lines in the past few years.
But people aren't buying it. We didn't belong there and we don't belong in Iraq or Afghanistan.

6. Hell, the neocons have been laying down that bullshit about Vietnam for years.
If we only would have stayed in there for another century or two we would have 'won', whatever that was supposed to have looked like. They blame and hate Walter Cronkite because he said the war was unwinable. They blame Congress on the genocide that followed our withdrawal of soldiers and funding, but refuse to see that those deaths were a consequence of going in, not getting out.

Of course these same knuckleheads will blame Iraq, deficits, and everything else on Democrats. Blaming your mistakes on others is a sign of immaturity, and also part of the basic Republican genre.

7. I think you're onto something but we are already just like Fascist Germany
Edited on Sun May-11-08 07:55 AM by bluebellbaby
Fascism-Political ideology that denies all rights to individuals in their relations with the state; specifically, the totalitarian nationalist movement founded in Italy in 1919 by Mussolini and followed by Hitler's Germany in 1933.

Protect the profits and assists of Corporations...at all costs...

Corporations currently run, control our County and dictate public policy...weather through direct appointments to agencies created to protect the Public or through "confidential" meetings with Cheney to create Energy Policies...

Some points to defend my position:

USA Patriot Act
Military Commissions Act of 2006
Bush Signing Statements

We are already a dictatorship we just don't know it...

The only problem with your argument is that you assume that Bush will "go quietly into the night"...

With the above listed "laws", Bush can create a "biological" disaster or another "terrorist" attack and POOF...there goes the Constitution and our Elections...

8. So do you think there is a corporal is out there to make trouble in the beer halls?
The Germans also had to deal with a treaty that required paying war damages which was very much resented by the German people.
Much of the post-war hardship was blamed on a treaty that wouldn't have existed if there had been a victory. It could also be said that their hardships would have been less had they not fought that war.

The United States has committed itself to a 3-4 trillion dollar encumbrance to pay for the war and its consequences. Americans hate taxes and love to complain about them. So, of course, as several generations of nincompoops complain about their taxes they will say things would be different if the US had won.

But reality isn't going to back them up. Even if the US won the war in Iraq there would be no one to turn to for assistance in paying off our staggering war debt. That wound would be the same win or lose. The truth is we wounded ourselves by choosing to enter into an unnecessary aggressive war of choice.

DCdems don't have clean hands on the IWR but the blame belongs to the people who convinced 75% of Americans that the war was a good idea. I don't think that job was done by Democrats.

9. You are way off-base
One statistic that the media has ignored is the overall primary vote along party lines. There have been nearly three times as many Democratic Party votes as Republican votes cast in the primaries so far. That 55-45% prediction of yours is so 2004.

And in 2009, the only thing "the right wing of the republican party, the right-wing pundits" will agree on is how humid it is in Paraguay.

10. The neocons have people fighting back now -- Bush Jr made things too obvious
They've shown their hand. I actually think the Democrats will be in charge for quite some time, especially once the depth of Bush-fed depravity comes to light.

11. We are not afraid
With the advent of the internet, the Big Lies wither in the sunlight of truth. If not for the internet, people would still be going  at the mention of the term 'neocon.'

Besides, there are more of us than there are of youthem, and fewer of us who are willing to take their shit lying down.
