Siegelman: OSC Was Told To "SHUT DOWN" Investigation Of His Federal Case
Edited on Wed May-07-08 07:15 PM by kpete
"TF (OSC Task Force) is informed that the Special Counsel did not authorize the Task Froce to investigate these allegations and that do so (sic) is a breach. The Special Counsel requests that this file be closed immediately."

The 13-page memo from the task force, dated January 18, 2008, is entitled “Summary of Task Force Activities and Recommendations.” http://pogoarchives.org/m/wi/osc-tf-summary-20080118.pdf It reveals that Bloch countermanded virtually every recommendation made by his own team; if they recommended pursuing a matter, he ordered them to stop, and if they advised that they lacked either jurisdiction or evidence to proceed, he ordered them to go forward.

..................

A leaked Office of Special Counsel memo http://pogoarchives.org/m/wi/osc-tf-summary-20080118.pdfdescribes an investigation into the federal prosecution of former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman. The investigation, conducted by an OSC task force, was shut down on orders from OSC head, Scott Bloch, whose office and home were raided Monday by the FBI.

"The question is who told them to shut it down," Siegelman said Wednesday when told of the memo. "Why would you start an investigation and let it proceed and then shut it down? The logical conclusion is that somebody intervened and told them to shut down the investigation ... we need to get to the bottom of this." 2. I think it all leads to the massive election fraud of 2002 and 2004. Why the DNC let this crap
go on for four years after 2000s theft, and going uncountered under McAuliffe's stewardship is just beyond any honest explanation.

7. Indeed. But why? To quash leaks, I suspect, and to find the evidence Bloch has
squirreled away, to protect himself!!

9. FBI publicly raiding OSC
to entomb all evidence of the crimes alleged seems far-fetched -- but I won't dismiss it out of hand.

But I think that we have entered the cover-up and early CYA phase for an expanding network of people, and that a centralized action that might have worked before is exponentially less likely now.

8. curiouser & curiouser...
Presumeably there is a lot of hot stuff in Bloch's files. Who prompted the FBI raid will tell you who's jig is up and who's getting a pass (temporary or otherwise)

10. Two big threads getting connected here?
Siegelman's case is a...what do they call it?...oh yeah: a federal case.

And now one branch of the feds, the FBI, is actually seizing evidence from an executive branch agency for allegedly MISUSING executive authority?

Serious shit is going down, if only because seizing the levers of democracy wasn't as easy as some people thought it would be.

11. This is the sleeper story, the Watergate of 2008.
If this story goes where I think it is headed, it the story of the FBI career officials retaking from the evil Bush empire the legitimate roles of enforcing federal law under the constitution.

This goes to the core of the use of Justice by Rove and his minions, of which the Siegleman case is the best known example.

I hope this case results in the dirty line from Rove to Bloch being made clear.
