War Games

We want answers. And we can handle the truth.

It would be refreshing, in fact, if we'd actually get that truth--instead of smirking, smarmy TweetyKristolRushRoveRussetopolous spin knowingly enabling smear and innuendo in the furtherance of newsertainment.

Instead of the media enabling BushCo going to war on Iraq. Instead of the media enabling the Pentagon with their cozy conversations with propagandizing generals. Instead of the media enabling McCain's campaign with their hands-off "see no nothing" Sgt. Schultz scrutiny of McCain.

The media rushed to embed themselves in BushCo's Iraq war and enable the lies and corruption and torture and all the other horrors this war has inflicted on America. The media rushed to enable whatever the guy you most want to have a beer with had to say. And now, they are enabling Clinton and McCain--birds of a feather in their headlong rush to give us four more years of entitled elitist Bushism.

And a pox on the media.

'cause it sure as hell ain't enabling democracy.

2. Amen...And They Keep Stonewalling
The corporate media hoped that this story would fade like so many others they ignore...or that they could palm off the blame on the Pentagon and the paid-for propagandists...then throw up their hands and say "how did we know". It's bullshit that fine folks like Glenn Grunwald have been staying on and hopefully he'll keep hammering...along with others in the blogosphere...to get the corporate media to put their cards on the table.

Here's another byproduct of what deregulation brings...a corporate media more consumed with money, ratings and access that any concept of public service no longer exists...or is what they believe it to be. These networks benefitted big time from this regime...either through more deregulation or other corporate welfare perks...were cheerleaders for a war they saw as a big boost in their ratings and then kept up the propaganda to avoid addressing their complicity in the disinformation that had led to over 4,000 needless American dead, thousands of Iraqis and the ruin of this country's prestige and morality. Blood is on their hands and they want you to ignore it.

Here's hoping a new media can evolve from the ashes...and to let this old, corrput and self-serving one rot in disgrace.
