DU boycott of Cable News outlets
Forgive me if anything like this is posted elsewhere...

This morning early, it was all WRight/Obama bashing...
unbelieveable...
I've been down with a migraine all day,
and flipping on cable news this afternoon,
more of same...

I'd expect this of Fox, but MSNBC is right on the boundary
of being downright bigoted.

I've sent emails, and of course, things seem to get worse.

I say all progressives boycott all the cable news outlets,
and we telephone our television providers:
cable/dish/satellite to have them removed from our service.

I cannot take this kind of approach in a democracy,
especially when these 'journalists' speak for the
'upset white voters.'

This is incredibly infuriating.

If AFrican American citizens take to the streets
in protest to this fascistic 'news,' I say we march
in solidarity.

Is this what its come to?

1. I'm game.
A news boycott for a few days would be good for our sanity.

2. I don't have TV at all right now.
I cancelled my cable in '04, right after the election, and told they why too.

11. So it means rioting unless otherwise noted. It's rioting by default. nt

6. It's been this way for a long time! Have you forgotten the Swift boat story
with Kerry, the Den Scream, the Edwards haircut & his HUGH HOUSE? Those are just fairly recent occurrances. Time passes and we all forget just how bad it was.

I will say this. At least THIS TIME we have progressive radio and Keith Olberman & Rachel Maddow.

I admit, some days it gets to me too. I put on a progressive radio show that I enjoy, and a FoodTV show on the TV. A nice byproduct is that I've become a really good cook too!

The only way to pass of an obvious lie is repetition.

10. That's how they got the people on board for the war in IRaq..
repetition.. the same lies over and over.

I am so sick of the same people saying the same things over and over.

I thought that once people heard REv. Wright, it'd clear up,
and last night, the first Fox and CNN commentators agreed that
he was amazing.

But the memo must have gone out at midnight,
and the hate is chilling.

Especially MSNBC... I think it's because they got scooped..
Fox/CNN were there first, so they have to double dip the hatred.

And the talking points haven't changed, it's obvious they didn't
hear/see the events... just keep telling the same lies over and over.

12. Haven't watched any of that trash for years
Why anyone would, is beyond me. The very best one gets out of that is misinformed.

And if you're one of those who do watch, don't think that you're immune from the framing and the presentation of the narratives and image. Propaganda is often subtle, and even the best of us get taken in.

13. Are you talking about the "Opinion" people
or the news people, there is a difference?

Also, I am tired of being called a racist, especially by people who do not know me.

Just because I don't go to his church does not make me a racist. Maybe he is a racist for not going to my church? Cuts both ways.

14. There are no 'news' people anymore...
everything is framed in a reference point,
what Wright calls a 'hermenutic.'

I trust no one anymore...

17. "This is incredibly infuriating."
Yes, it is. Like you, the first thing I saw when I awoke this morning was Rev Wright at the press club and then the immediate parsing and obfuscating and lying and spinning coming from CNN afterwards and all day, with Tony Perkins and Roland Martin (both African-American) just excoriating Wright. And, later in the afternoon, they had another black reverend on MSNBC on to say that Wright doesn't speak for black churches and apparently really doesn't know the black church culture.

I'm so sick of this crap.

"If AFrican American citizens take to the streets
in protest to this fascistic 'news,' I say we march
in solidarity."

I will march with you.

18. What the hell happened to MSNBC?
They used to stand apart but now, well, they're just like the rest of cable.
