But with so much conflicting data anyone who claims that cell phones are more hazardous than asbestos is VASTLY overstating the case.

Signals to and from cell phones for the most part are not tightbeam, so they radiate in all directions. To the extent that there might be dangers, it's nearly impossible to measure accurately since the radiation, well, "radiates" in all directions -- proponents of the linkage have yet, to my knowledge, to explain how the simple presence of a receiver is supposed to accumulate more or more dangerous radiation.
