They don't fear you.

They own you.

You're fucked and it is your (and my) own damned fault. You (and I) haven't done jack shit in the way of effective action to make the government fear you.

I'm just sayin' ...........

1. I'd like to respond to that.
You can have a government which is an alter ego of you. Do you see a candidate out there who you think can bring that to you? Vote accordingly.

No, there is no current candidate that is an alter ego of me. I will vote, but not for anyone I truly want.

3. Ok let's explore that.
Is it someone who was running and who dropped out of the race? Did he stand for things you can get the remaining candidates to see your way?

13. Besides, voting "accordingly" within such a blatantly rigged system won't change anything

5. There is only one type of action that would have any affect on "our"
government and very few of us are interested or willing to engage. I agree with you - we are done and we have no one to blame but the dips in the mirror...

6. Oh please
When has any government ever given one wit about anything? We aren't "done" - we were never in the game to begin with other than useful pawns. Don't blame the little people, at best we can have revolution and gain a few bones for a short time. But the world's elite, the economic predators will eventually gain back what small crumbs the little people managed to gain.

Tribal life is a different story I think. And there are a few exceptions around the world on the community level. There are oddities in various governments who got themselves there because they genuinely DO care. But no large centralized government is ever going to care about the little guy, it's going to care about expanding itself - meaning making nice with the predators.

9. Oh please! That is the story with the US, but it isn't everywhere.

(Although the government wants you to think so!) Maybe when you are a citizen of a huge empire, operated for the benefit of the wealthy class, then you are right. But don't try and say that all governments are the same as our crooked, corporate, imperial government - because they aren't. You can just look around the globe and see numerous examples of governments that are much more egalitarian, much more fair and just. We have this government, in part, because citizens have been conditioned so that they cannot imagine anything better...

10. Stop paying taxes would be a start.
Monkey-wrenching, disobedience, derailing organizations would all be ways...

12. If enough took to the streets, they'd be quite fearful. Hence the enormous propaganda effort here
Although renown dissidents Peter Dale Scott, and Noam Chomsky, both espouse the idea that a lot of the totalitarian COG measures in place - along with KBR's recent "detainment camp" contracts - are signs that our govt is preparing to have to defend itself against the populace.
