Update and Last Chance On Retroactive Immunity -- Silvestre Reyes may cave
The Last Stand Against Retroactive Immunity

Tell Your Representative: Don't Cave Now

Will the House roll over as the Senate did, and grant
retroactive immunity to the Bush Administration and
telecom companies for their illegal spying program?

Take action now! http://act.credomobile.com/campaign/fisa_house/

Dear (Leopolds Ghost),

I know you've been following the fight against retroactive immunity
for quite some time now and I wanted to give you an update on what
we're hearing from Washington.

We don't know yet what the legislation being negotiated
between the House and the Senate will look like.

Things aren't looking good, though.

This weekend, Democratic House Intelligence Chair Silvestre Reyes
expressed a willingness to vote on legislation that includes retroactive
immunity for the big telecoms that helped the Bush administration spy on
Americans without a warrant. This despite the fact that just two weeks
ago, Reyes sent a letter to President Bush stating his opposition to
retroactive immunity.

The House needs to hear from the American people again this week urging
them not to cave. They must hold firm and stop retroactive immunity from
getting a vote.

Congress needs to hear from you today. Will you contact your
Representative and ask for a vote opposing retroactive immunity?

Democrats in the House have been a bulwark against retroactive immunity. We know the Bush administration is putting tremendous pressure on them to pass immunity, but we need to remind them that it's their job to uphold the rule of law.

CREDO Action members have already sent hundreds of thousands of emails, faxes, and phone calls to Congress. It's crucial that we keep up the pressure and tell Congress that we still need them to stand up to Bush and Cheney.

Will you join tens of thousands of CREDO Action members and contact your representative today?

I'll let you know about developments as they come, but right now we need to continue to tell Congress that we expect them to defend the Constitution and oppose retroactive immunity.

This may be our last chance to stop Bush and the big telecom companies from getting retroactive immunity for their illegal activities. Please take action today.

Thank you for all you've done to protect the rule of law.

Michael Kieschnick, President

CREDO Mobile (a "good" telecom spun off by the majors in
keeping with the 1997 Telecommunications Deregulation act)
