6. DePauw -shallow school for wealthy; proud alma mater of Marilyn/Dan Quayle.

I have a cousin who was mega social climbing/wealth obsessed when choosing to attend DePauw. Went Greek, of course. She married a wealthy fellow student and constantly bragged about their social status, her role as President of the Junior League ! ! ! , his wealth, their wonderful life - for decades of those nauseating Christmas Status letters. Turned out he'd been an alcoholic womanizer for many years, and finally left her for a barmaid in some little podunk town where he and his hunting buddies had a cabin. They'd hated each other for years! With amazing good luck, he died from liver bleedout (acute alcoholism) before they'd signed a settlement agreement - and he hadn't changed his will, so she inherited, as she put it, "More money than I could possibly ever spend."
So that's my DePauw story, and I wasn't surprised to read about their shallow Greek system.
