The nodding heads behind speaking politicians are payed whores

It never fails. Almost anytime you see a politician, Dem or Thug, speaking in front of a camera, there is usually one, two, or many people standing behind them nodding their heads like puppets on strings.

It's a transparent piece of bullshit that has worked for years.

It's nothing more than a tactic to make you say, as they seem to be saying, "I agree with whatever chunk of crap you just heard."

I really don't understand why just about everyone has not yet caught on to this rancid piece of political theater.

The most recent clip I saw was one that Keith Olberman showed a few minutes ago. A single flunky was standing behind Hillary nodding his head every time she spoke.

This isn't a knock on Hillary. All pols do it. And it's time we stopped buying it.

On edit: Those politicians who use their young children as props deserve a special place in Hell.

3. OK, that's amusing........
That's what Agnes the Blunt calls the males and females who stand behind Harper and play Yes Sir...the bobbleheads.

She's right, of course. I will have to tell her that someone else has noticed it and uses the same terminology.

5. That's bullshit
Most of the people who get placed on the stage are local candidates or campaign volunteers who have busted their ass for the candidate. They paid staff usually has plenty of other things to do.

7. Believe what you wish. But watch the bobbing heads the next time
you see some pol speaking.

They may have "busted their ass for the candidate," but the nodding heads are no accident.

When someone says, "Dog shit tastes good," and everyone standing behind them nods in approval, who are you to disagree?

14. I don't need to "believe what I wish"
I have the luxury, in this case, of believing what I know.

Low in Polls, Bush Makes More Time for Friendly Crowds
By SHERYL GAY STOLBERG
Published: October 16, 2007
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/16/washingt...

ROGERS, Ark., Oct. 15 — Out there in the rest of America, polls show that about twice as many people disapprove of President Bush as approve of him. But here in a cavernous convention center hall, Mr. Bush found nothing but admirers Monday when he answered questions during a town-hall-style meeting.

One man began by commending Mr. Bush “on your steadfastness and your faith.” Another concluded by saying, “Thank you for being my president for the last seven years,” with an emphasis on the word “my.” A third expressed dismay that Mr. Bush could not run for president again.

<<snip>>

The friendly audience in northwest Arkansas — not a single questioner criticized Mr. Bush — is typical of such let-Bush-be-Bush events, which the White House is staging with increasing frequency. Mr. Bush’s aides like them because the president is much better in an informal setting, especially one where he can get his message across, conversation-style, without pesky reporters asking the questions.

<<snip>>

The kicker came from a girl who asked when he thought there would be “a girl president” — from the Republican Party.

“You took my line,” the president replied, apparently thinking for a moment that he was being asked about Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Democrat of New York. “I think there will — a lady will be president, you know, and she’ll be a Republican.”

10. What about the politicians?
I would call politicians paid whores, too, but I would not want to insult whores. With very few exceptions, ALL of our politicians, regardless of party, are bought and paid for.

11. McCain's little tricks come to mind.
He wants to make us believe he's in a huge arena with throngs of thousands worshiping him when he's making a victory speech after winning a primary.

But he doesn't have massive throngs. He has an audience of maybe a couple hundred, in small hotel ballroom.

So he throws a few of them behind him and has the cameras zoom in, so it looks like he's in a crowd.

But it doesn't quite work - the cheers and applause from a few hundred sound distinctly different from the cheers and applause from tens of thousands at an Obama rally.

He also has a group of local college Republican frat boys yelling "USA! USA! USA!" to make it look like the crowd's more enthusiastic, even as he delivers a speech that is as exciting as watching paint dry.

Wow. I feel so enlightened by your absolutely outstanding observational skills. :sarcasm:

Did you just take a class in marketing 101 or something?

...for president. He nodded while she gave the "Shame" speech regarding Obama's anti-Clinton flyers.

I don't think Strickland was being paid to nod.

Do you know how many appointments virtually any politician gets to make? Not to mention the perks they get to spread around.
