Poll question: if the general election was between McCain and Ron Paul
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 07:38 AM by Syrinx
I would vote Ron Paul.

At least I agree with him about some stuff.

3. I agree with lowercase libertarianism
Not the uppercase kind.

I disagree with McCain about just about everything.

19. I Do
But I would pick Ron Paul, who is against torture, ahead of John McCain who voted for torture, after speaking out against torture.

John McCain is a sorry sack of shit.

He is a fake and a phony. Do you really want to defend him here?

20. This poll is a defense of BOTH of them
It is as odious to me as a Nader poll. You shouldn't be trolling for Republican sympathies on DU. But obviously you think you can.

24. you are mistaken
If you read my journal for one second, it is obvious that I'm no Republican. Maybe you are.

My poll was specific. Faced with two strands of conservatism, which would you favor?

Our current system of corruption, or one based on reason?

You have answered for yourself! Congratulations for America!

Barack Obama is about to shatter both of those conceptions of conservatism!

He is about to unleash the arm and power of liberalism on you, and you can't stand it!

You can't stand it!

I love it!

27. There is NO favoring of Conservatism, period, especially on DU
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 08:26 AM by DainBramaged
And journals are like assholes, everyone can have one. Except some are disguised with perfume.

You even use Freeper tactics of trying to turn your own words on the person who sees through the bullshit.

And don't try the Obama card here either. It's as transparent as you are.

36. Easy with the witch hunt there, DainBramaged.
Various politicians have good and bad views, and there are nuances in policy people should be able to discuss here without having to worry about being attacked by you.

Besides, there are Constitutional issues and questions of high crimes and misdemeanors that are apolitical and that some Democrats have taken the wrong position on. We are free to discuss this as well.

21. Both McCain and Ron Paul would destroy the country economically. However...
Only McCain would deliberately trigger a global nuclear war and kill us all.

And if either of them became president, it would be the last time the office would ever go to a Republican.

DU must have a lot more people who are "totally disconnected
from reality" than I've previously assumed.

Or maybe it's the "this poll is so stupid I'll hack it" vote.

I would choose the one who isn't dead set on blowing-up the world.

Granted, they're both stupid, crazy nutbags.

I would take any Democrat-- except Joe Biden-- over Ron Paul.

31. It is not possible to underestimate what a disaster a Ron Paul Presidency would be.
Even McCain would be infinitly better. I would take Mitt Romney or that faker Huckabee before Ron Paul because as much as I disagree with each of them they are at least rational - Ron Paul, and his supporters, are not.

43. Paul could be voted out or a more hostile Congress voted in
there is no way to undo the damage McCain would cause in foreign policy.

Besides if he is half the disaster you claim he is then I finally would get a ring side seat for the under utilized tool of impeachment.

If I HAD to, it would probably be McCain; but in practice I would probably write in my neighbour's cat, if there were no third-party candidate.

Yeurrggggghhhh, talk about the stuff of nightmares. And I thought choosing between Blair and Michael Howard was bad enough (I didn't; I voted for our third party, the LibDems).
