We piss all over Drudge, with plenty of justification, but it seems that most of the pantloads who spam forums get their crap from Breitbart who, if you've ever looked at the home page (which I won't link here) features neutral looking news, but when you scroll down a bit it's all Freak Republic, Cracker News Service, Wankerline, et al.

1. Could you repost this without your 'witicisms'?
I don't know what the hell you're ranting about.

7. And I don't think there's going to be a lot of resistance to that notion among RWers, but...
well, I just find it annoying that we'll crap on a Drudge (don't worry, i'll gladly empty my cat's litterbox on Matty's enterprise given the chance) but rarely utter a peep about this supposedly more respectable "news" resource.

5. Dude, you're the Rude Pundit re-poster...
I don't know if you're on the level or not.

If you are...

Breitbart.com is an ostensibly news-distillation page. I see a whole lot of right wing trolls in various open forums linking to it, and yet it seems like it's trying to maintain the appearance of neutrality.

I just felt like calling them out, and seeing how other DUers felt.

Make some sense now?

(BTW, I loves me some Rude Pundit and I never found your posts annoying, in case you had the wrong idea.)

8. Yeah, those are annoying as crap.
And I've always looked cockeyed at "Real Clear Politics," which always posts generic Congressional approval ratings near Chimpy's.

13. Ok, give you that.
And in a subversive kinda way, it's useful to have these middlebrow/right-leaning resources around to link when in an open forum--just as I've been known to drop a straight news story from Fox News from time to time.

It's not dishonest; I really do check the RW mainstream guys to see what they're yabbering about, figure I might as well get something in return.

It's like people thinking that "NBC" news is left, because they spoon feed them "Kieeeeeeeeeeth!" on their cable arm.

6. They seem to lard the top of the page with neutral-looking stuff
You scroll down a bit and it's uniformly Reich Wing crap.

I think it's a way that right wingnuts can feel a little virtuous about themselves, as if they're exposing themselves to "balanced" news sources without actually doing it.

That never-was wit and game show intellectual said proudly in an interview last year that his son-in-law was the unheralded partner in the PUDGE Report and that he also assisted in creating the Huffington Post.

Plenty of links verifying the link, as it were. So much for former "Eastern" Lib Orson, if he ever was a Lib.

21. It's kind of an inside-baseball-y sort of post, I admit...
but for the record, I'm speaking of the site "breitbart dot com", which gives a pretty good appearance of being a neutral news index site but is actually decidedly right wing, when you stroll down their homepage to the forums/opinion sites, which are all the notorious right wing noise machine outlets we know and love.

(no, I won't give those arseholes a direct link here.)

I figure they're as good a barometer of what's considered "news" across the Intertoobz as any.

For political stuff, well, I got my dirty fucking hippy friends here, and at Atrios, and wherever else I feel like wandering.

but thanks for the tip.

24. Breitbart writes Drudge? Hmmm....
http://www.reason.com/blog/show/124918.html

"On Saturday, February 9, the host of Fox News' Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld and the man who writes The Drudge Report, Andrew Breitbart, sat down after CPAC, the year's largest gathering of conservative activists, and heavy drinking to talk about liberals, conservatives, the media, hairlines--and how rejection slips from reason in the 1980s helped make them who they are today. It's a rollicking, wide-ranging half-hour of a long day's journey into night, hosted by reason's Nick Gillespie and Matt Welch."

And this interesting tidbit from an article about Rev. Moon and the media.

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/madfloridian/1297

"Here are the "media outlets", the links given at the Insight Magazine. Note them carefully.

Insight Magazine

Drudge Report
Human Events Online
American Spectator
National Review Online
Breitbart.com
"

If you can find a cache of the linked article the links should be there still.

Talk about right wing? Doesn't Matt Drudge still own the Drudge Report? Am I behind the times?

25. Yes, he was the west coast arm of Drudge. Now with Huffington Post
Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 01:26 PM by madfloridian
http://www.rogerlsimon.com/mt-archives/2005/04/breitbart_state.php

"My friend Andrew Breitbart - for many years the West Coast arm of The Drudge Report - has recently been inundated by questions from the media concerning a new website he is developing for Arianna Huffington. Because Andrew regards this as primarily a blogosphere (not MSM) matter, he has asked me to post the following statement for him. Here's Andrew:

I've gotten a ton of e-mails asking me what I'm up to. Here it is:

The New York Times got it right -- I am amicably leaving the Drudge Report after a long and close working relationship with Matt Drudge, a man who will rightfully take his place in the history books as an Internet news pioneer. I am also excited to be a partner in an inspired new endeavor, the Huffington Post. The last time I worked with Arianna she got a guy who didn't deserve to be buried in Arlington National Cemetery disinterred. That was cool. I admit: I like to go where the action is.

As for my politics, I am, quite literally, an open book. 'Hollywood, Interrupted' spells it out perfectly. I am a raucous, opinionated, red meat eating libertarian-leaning conservative who refuses to be relegated to a conservative ghetto. I have lived on L.A.'s liberal Westside for all of my life. I went to the liberal Brentwood School. Most of my friends and extended family lean left and will all attest that at gatherings I gleefully disagree with them. Yet I still love them, and refuse to give up on getting them to see things my way. But the last election cycle gave me an ulcer. As a Dennis Miller/South Park kind of Republican, I am offended by both 'Bush is Hitler' rhetoric and fetus-in-a-jar political speech.

What the world needs more of is amicable -- even jocular -- disagreement. Bringing my former boss and longtime friend Arianna 's intriguing friends to the blogosphere, the ultimate level playing field, makes perfect sense to me, and I am thrilled to be committed to such a groundbreaking project. Will my pals on the right have a place to offer their two cents at the Huffington Post? Absolutely. Will I agree with everyone's written word? Of course not. But that's precisely the point. May the best ideas win."
