a FAVOR please... please help me today
we have never been to Augusta Georgia. our 17 year old daughter flew by herself to visit her Uncle at Augusta Georgia.

Now we are seeing the tornados popping up in Georgia and Alabama

those of you that live at or near there, will you please let me know if or when I need to be concerned about the weather there?

We live in Kansas the heart of Tornado Alley during the spring/summer, I hate the darn things with a passion so I tend to get really jumpy

Now when she is out of my control she is in the middle of them and I can not help but worry

3. Kick and Recommend.
I'm from PA and no help at all, but will kick for others to see.

Try to not worry. Easier said than done, I know.

Hope for you and your daughter to be just fine!

9. Those apron strings can never be totally untied, greenbriar.
No matter how old our children get, they are always OUR children, and we will always have occasions to be concerned for them.

I hope your daughter has a good, safe visit with her uncle.

11. I would think you'd be able to find the location of Augusta by going to a mapsite.
I've never used google maps, but I've used Mapquest.com . You can do a search for Augusta, then zoom the map out so you can see where it is in relation to the rest of the state.

Good luck!

13. I'm in Atlanta - Not yet, probably not at all.
Edited on Sun Feb-17-08 04:29 PM by Rosemary2205
they tend to go northeast of Atlanta and keep heading north to Chattanooga. Once in a blue moon they'll go that far east but not often.

Right now it's just breaking the state line from Alabama and following it's normal path - I can't promise, of course, but I'll be very surprised if it goes as far as Augusta in any strength more than just a normal thunderstorm.

16. excuse me they go NorthWEST of Atlanta
it's very rare for the straight east of Atlanta or southeastern suburbs to get much if anything out of a big storm. It dumps west and northwest of the city and burns itself out before it normally gets to us. I live about 15 miles southeast of Atlanta (in the direction toward augusta) and we have not been tornadoed for 35 years (as long as I've been here). Strong storms yes, but the really nasty part burns itself out before it gets to me.

I hate tornadoes and I know that many of you carried me through last spring and summer

I felt really hopeless that there were those outbreaks and I wasn't with my baby
