I just realized why I don't like McCain
There are many reasons I don't like McCain, but I was watching him on TV a little while ago and I realized why I find him so obnoxious and repulsive.

When most primates move their hand upward, the elbow follows it. Reach out to shake hands and first your hand moves forward, followed by your forearm and later then your elbow. If you want to point at something, your hand begins an upward motion that is followed by your forearm and then -- your elbow.

This is not true with McCain. When McCain decides to point at something, his elbow first flies up in the air --- to a right angle of his body and about chin level -- and later his hand follows. If he is looking South and wants to shake hands with someone, his elbow lurches upward in a westerly direction to shoulder level, apparently not controlled by his mind. His hand follows -- later. I bet that gives the shakee the creeps. It would cause me to want to reach for a gun.

The more I watch this idiot-syncrisy, the more I notice that his upper arm can't be over 4 inches long. He flaps his wings somewhat like a slow witted seal.

It's not only obnoxious and repulsive -- it's disconcerting and dangerous. I wonder how many people he has brained with his elbows ?

While we're talking about McCain, let me mention another thing I noticed recently.

It was funny the other night when Huckabee, Romney, Paul and McCain showed up at the Reagan Center for a debate carried by CNN. Nancy Reagan was there to greet them and they outdid each other as to how much fawning they could do to over the Keeper of the Corpse.

Huckabee smiled, nodded and shook her hand. Paul did likewise. Romney smiled, nodded, bowed his head and shook her hand. McCain smiled, nodded, bowed his head, shook her hand and damn near curtsied.

26. Fact. His shoulder was dislocated when he ejected over North Vietnam
he needed medical attention, which he didn't get for a few weeks. NOT defending him, he's a creep for many, many reasons, but the way he points his finger doesn't register on my condemnation meter.

13. Correct.
He supposedly can't raise his arms over his head. The guy endured years of pain. While I despise his politics, this is a line I don't want us to cross.

4. What bothers me is that he didn't stand up for his daughter after that push polling nonsense.
Frankly as a father I would have never spoken to Bush again after that. You don't let someone tread on your family like that and then turn around and hug them.

18. I heard that ....
he was furious with Bush and Rove and called them on it. Bush told him it was politics and not personal. Made McCain look like an ass.

What got me was that hugging Bush thing. If I had a chance to hug Bush after some shit like that-he'd be pulling a dagger out of his side-and I'm not even Sicilian.

11. His 'odd' movements are the result of ...
... permanent injuries due to torture while held as a POW.

But that notwithstanding, judging someone based on the movement of their elbows is certainly a valid consideration in politics - why bother with peripheral things like their policies, their statements, their record, etc.?

16. I read his book some years back.
I always it thought was tragic that he had the hell beat out him everyday for five years. I would have hoped his country would have rewarded him with a good life when he returned home. But I saw no reason that getting beat was qualification for the Senate.

What I like least about John is the fact that he let Bush insult his family in South Carolina in 2000 and has done nothing but kiss his ass since then.

Or am I demanding too much courage ?

19. If you read his book ...
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 05:01 PM by NanceGreggs
... and know so much about him, how could you not have known about his permanent injuries, and their impact on his ability to move his arms and shoulders in a normal fashion?

And I sincerely doubt that his constituents who voted him into the Senate did so because getting beat every day 'qualified' him for the job.

I'm a bit puzzled by your comment that the thing you like least about him is the fact that he didn't stand up for his daughter. You didn't even mention that in your OP - is that because you didn't even know about that incident until someone else posted it here?

Why did you 'suddenly realize' what it is you don't like about McCain (his elbow movements), if the incident of his family being disparaged happened years ago and that bothered you so much?

The depth of your knowledge about such things is truly astounding.

15. Anybody kiss her ring?
On another note -

I don't like mccain either. First, he's on the wrong side. Second, yes I too am bothered by his Dr. Strangelove-meets-the-Tin-Man elbows - which I understand came from injuries sustained at the Hanoi Hilton. Third, "the jobs aren't coming back." Fourth, "there will be more wars." Fifth, "we'll be in Iraq for 100 years."

And SIXTH: That shitty-ass crack he made about Chelsea Clinton years ago when she was still a little girl - an adolescent, if I'm not mistaken. And true, she was no "Little Miss Junior Pageant Winner." But COME ON!!! "y'know why Chelsea Clinton is so ugly? Because Janet Reno is her father" yuk-yuk-yuk. Yeah. REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLL funny, john. You fucking PRICK! Yeah, just what I'M looking forward to over the next four years: lots of smart-alec, wise-ass, shitty below-the-belt cracks that aren't so much genuinely funny as MEANT TO HURT. That was shitty, and hurtful, and cruel, and mean. And uncalled for! For Christ's sake, back then especially, Chelsea was a NON-COMBATANT. And her parents worked very hard to protect her and shield her from the public and the press while they were in the White House. They did a pretty good job. And judging from the way she's matured, they did a SUPERB job. And in the best-revenge scenario, she turns out to be quite the babe as a 20-something woman.

FUCK YOU, john mccain. You're so tough you have to pick on a little girl. Throw cheap-shot, ugly insults at a little girl - who was probably sensitive about her looks when she was a young teen, especially with braces (I know how MY daughter felt under those circumstances - AND I know how I MYSELF felt at that age, because my looks made some people want to run screaming into the night). If you dish it out like that, you better be ready to take it, 'cause I alone have an ocean-liner full of insults to heap upon your UGLY, HIDEOUS, REPULSIVE face, heart, AND soul.

Or maybe I should revise that last sentence. I'm not fully convinced you even HAVE a heart. OR a soul.

BASTARD!!!!!

22. Didn't that just take the cake, 'eh? That would be Seventh on my list.
And let's not forget

Eighth: all those nice photos (that I don't know how to replicate here) of him hugging and kissing bush in 2004. REEEEEAL nice. Especially after bush's troops had eviscerated mccain's wife and adopted daughter in 2000 with that sleazy rumor campaign. And good ol' john said NOTHING about it. Didn't rise up to fight back, didn't defend their honor, NOTHING. And his wife and little girl were NON-COMBATANTS - just like Chelsea Clinton was.

What a fucking WEASEL. I don't care if he was tortured by Osama bin Laden himself. I find him just about the least sympathetic character on the American political scene.

because of his Presidential ambitions. He's a smarmy bastard who will DO ANYTHING to get elected. Even suck up to a man who's campaign was responsible for the most reprehensible personal attacks imaginable against him. What an ass. He has NO INTEGRITY.

20. Why I hate John McCain
If his elbow problem was caused by torture in the Hanoi Hilton we should leave it alone. Unless we want to point out how he favors torture when WE do it.
I dislike McCain because he is a mean, angry man. I dislike him because he promises 100 years in Iraq, a war with Iran, loss of jobs, and amnesty for illegal immigrants. I especially dislike him because he promises all these things will happen regardless of the wishes of the voters. Maybe they will, but a politician who shows such contempt for the wishes of the voters BEFORE an election will certainly have no qualms AFTER the election.
I am a disgruntled libertarian-Republican who plans to vote for the Democrat in November. I prefer Obama just because he is more likable and easier to listen to, but I will take Hillary over McCain, Romney, or Huckabee. There are many like me, and even more sitting on the fence who just need a push. My suggestion for Democrats: never let up on the war in Iraq. Never let up on the war as the reason for our bad economy. Ask every mother and father if they want their kids drafted. Ask if they want to starve old people to fund wars. Ask if they really want a war with Iran over WMDs when Bush lied about WMDs in Iraq.

25. I don't dislike McCain the person
When he's on he is often a lot of fun on The Daily Show. He can get angry and mean at times yes I agree. Cheney has been trying to kill his career for years now and the hate radio that was fired up against him long ago can't be pulled back now. And I feel a little bad for him, although amused in general at the Rethug party that can't control their own over egoed PR machine.

I dislike is McCain's politics. He simple represents a world view I don't agree with. Not only does he stand on the opposite side of me on issues, he values issues in vastly different order of relative importance than me.

31. Well, Sparky, you are free to dislike whomever you wish,
using any criterion you wish. I would suggest to you that you would do well to research Mr. McCain's history as a prisoner of war, rethink your OP and get back to us later.

I might also suggest that opposition to ANY candidate is more a matter of policy than physicality. It least with "us," right, pardner?
