Is Al Gore this generation's Thomas Jefferson?
I remember hearing a quote that John Kennedy once made at a dinner honoring noble laureates. Something to the effect of, "I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent, and knowledge, that has ever been gathered at the White House - with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone" Consider Mr. Gore. The guy has won the Noble prize, an Academy award and countless others. He's involved in the premiere science issue of our time. He was ahead of the curve in realizing the potential of the internet. Foreshadowed humanity's effects on the environment before it was a global issue. He writes books, speaks, makes movies and is a statesman renowned across the world. Is Al Gore our version of the renaissance man?

2. And like Jefferson, Gore is somewhat reluctant to return to the political scene
Jefferson REALLY didn't want to run for President in 1800, but he accepted the fact that his country desperately needed him.

I hope Gore comes to the same conclusion eventually.

5. I wish you would share your thoughts on why it is a poor comparison.
When you have the time, of course.
