Here's a Republican idea that I want us to take
Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 03:53 PM by Cant trust em
How about impeaching the president! The only difference is that we'll impeach Bush on charges that ACTUALLY matter instead of some stupid irrelevant bullshit. Were most citizens calling for impeachment in the 90's before the Repukes started calling for it? Not likely. Let's do the same thing now. Convince the public and go for something aggresively.

1. good idea
Have you seen this?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080123/ap_on_go_pr_wh/misinformation_study

WASHINGTON - A study by two nonprofit journalism organizations found that President Bush and top administration officials issued hundreds of false statements about the national security threat from Iraq in the two years following the 2001 terrorist attacks.

The study concluded that the statements "were part of an orchestrated campaign that effectively galvanized public opinion and, in the process, led the nation to war under decidedly false pretenses."

...
"The actions taken in 2003 were based on the collective judgment of intelligence agencies around the world," Stanzel said.

The study counted 935 false statements in the two-year period. It found that in speeches, briefings, interviews and other venues, Bush and administration officials stated unequivocally on at least 532 occasions that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction or was trying to produce or obtain them or had links to al-Qaida or both.

2. Hell yeah I've seen that.
Doesn't it make you feel smart when two non-profits come up with an idea that you had five years ago? In other news, researchers found out today that 2+2 = 4.

4. haha... yes, but frustrating too
on the other hand, it does help you feel a bit vindicated in some level to some friends who would not listen to me years ago. I generally don't thrown anything back in people's faces but .. sometimes it's hard not to.

5. Being the "I told you so" is tempting
and I usually only do it to people who still cling to the fact that there is a liberal media and that the facts were so overwhelmingly in favor of war that there was no other choice.

The tables are turned now, MFers.

6. Anytime I see impeachment...
I hit the Rec button anytime I manage to bump into a pro-impeachment thread.
