Hi! I'm a building that will have to be renamed in 3 years... and I'm ugly, too!

1. The name and the ugliness seem to go together.

2. Eww, is that for real?
We have the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport which may have to be renamed, too, if he ends up in the slammer.

8. I don't get that one at all. I flew to ANC a couple of years ago,
saw the Ted Stevens sign, and all I could think was, WTF? How does any sitting senator, let alone a tool like Stevens, get an airport named after him? Shouldn't a person at least have to be dead first, like with postage stamps? And don't get me started on DCA, which some refer to as Reagan National Airport -- an airport named after a senile old fuckwit who almost single-handedly brought down the air traffic control system by crushing PATCO.

I hope old "Tubes" Stevens winds up in the pokey and ANC can be renamed.

14. The airport got the Stevens name
because of the tons of money he's brought to the state (and himself), especially the money for the new airport. There was probably some deal that if he made sure the money for the airport got snuck into some bill or other, he would get the glory.

Many people here have suggested renaming it the Jay Hammond Anchorage International Airport. Gov. Hammond seems much more worthy to me for several reasons: One, he's dead; two, he actually cared enough about the people of the state to guarantee that we would retrieve some personal benefit from the oil companies' plundering of our land (the Alaska Permanent Fund); three, he was an environmentalist; and, four, he was just a much nicer guy. I don't even care that he was a Republican. He was the most democratic Republican that I've known of in my lifetime. If Ted gets indicted, I don't see how the airport could keep its current name.

21. He Has Power and Large Cojones
The President of the Maryland State Senate, one Mike Miller, who apparently considers himself an occupant of that position for life, managed to get the newly built Senate building in Annapolis named after him. I'm sure he had no difficultly persuading the members of the General Assembly to agree to the nomenclature. All indications are that he is still, and plans to remain, alive for a few more years.

5. I agree completely! That's exactly what it looks like...

I picture the people inside to either be in cells or cubicles...x(

On edit: And there's a portrait of Cheney in each cubicle or cell, either frightening the cubicle people into working harder or, for those in cells, scaring them straight! I think it could work...:D

23. There really is a Cheney School near where I live in Oxford!
It's not named after him; but I still wish they'd change the name to something nicer like the Count Dracula School!
