When I am Queen of the Universe, I will make sure every election gets recounted and not publish results for at least a week. Every vote needs to be counted, accurately. Every election. Every vote needs to count. It is as big an issue as who wins.

3. We get pissed waiting 60 seconds in a drive thru. How would a week for voting go over?

5. Better to wait and have your vote counted. People'd get used to it.
Instant gratification vs having your vote count. I know, for many it'd be difficult. But for many others, KNOWING their vote got counted would far outweigh it. My vote doesn't count in national elections since I vote by mail and the national results are announced before they receive my ballot. But I vote anyway, at least local schools get funded.

7. I wouldn't be pissed if I knew every single vote was being counted.
What did we do before voting machines and 24 news media?

Counted paper ballots and waited.

6. This is exactly the point
It hardly matters if a recount shows your "guy" won or lost - again.

The integrity of the process is what matters, and for some here to gloat that their candidate is still ahead misses the entire point.

If the vote count is not correct, how long will it be before their favorite son gets his or her ax gored by the same circumstances that they (for now) applaud?
