Conservatives acknowledge compassionate conservatism "just a marketing gimmick"
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=17900390

I thought this short NPR interview with Jonah Goldberg from the major conservative website National Review Online was fascinating and shockingly candid. In it, Goldberg acknowledges that Huckabee is tearing the Republican party apart by offering what Goldberg calls "a form of conservative progressivism". He admits that W's much ballyhooed compassionate conservatism was "just a marketing gimmick" and says that conservatives are afraid Huckabee actually might be compassionate.

If all Republicans were this straightforward, they'd never get voted into office again!

1. Rounding up and quarantining AIDS patients is "compassionate"?
Denying citizenship to children born here is compassionate? Refusing to allow a retarded 15 year old girl who was raped by her stepfather to have a state-funded abortion is compassionate? I must revise my definition of compassion.

2. The very fact that a group needs to attach the word "compassionate" to
the name of their so called "ideology" should raise a red flag about it probably not having any.

3. Goldberg makes basically the same point
"What are we, all puppydog kickers?" he asks.

6. you have to read this book by john dean.. of Watergate, 'Conservatives without a conscience', Link>>

the 'Conservative personality' was discovered right after WW2 during research to determine how it was possible for a nobody like Hitler to acquire such power.. apparently 24% oaf any population consists of fearful people looking for any potential leader who promises to protect them... and will follow him straight into hell.

wonderful book

i am working on 'the shock doctrine' right now, so fascinating, the ReThug political arena was developed out of research done by torturing people.. and they are using as a foreign policy.. the system evolved out of peoples responses to electro shock therapy research in the 50's and 60's.. and people wonder why there so many people tasared and electrocuted to death by them lately with immunity... it's mind control..the shock doctrine...

7. Best definition of a compassionate conservative I've ever heard
My cousin, who was disabled, fell in a filthy men's restroom in California. As he struggled to pull himself up, a man, dressed in jeans and boots, came into the restroom, stood over him, said "Someone ought to help this man" and walked out. That man, said my cousin, defined compassionate conservatism.

11. That's been pretty obvious all along.

In fact it was received by most people as some sort of joke.

The only ones who said "compassionate conservatism" with a

straight face were those inside the BushCo Regime bunker.
