Is it just me?
Or does it seem that Bhutto's assassination cover up is being handled as screwed up as something bushco might be expected to be part of? Or is it just a given that the CIA had more than a passing hand in this mess?

Bhutto's cause of death disputed
Benazir Bhutto's supporters are unsure who to blame for her murder
Benazir Bhutto's supporters say the Pakistani government's account of how she died is "dangerous nonsense".

A government spokesman said her head was slammed against her vehicle by the blast from a bomb - but colleagues said she died from bullet wounds.

A Pakistani militant, accused by the government of being behind the killing, has denied any involvement.

President Musharraf has ordered firm action to prevent more of the rioting that followed Ms Bhutto's death.

Mr Musharraf said looters "must be dealt with firmly and all measures be taken to ensure (the) safety and security of the people", the official APP news agency reports.

7. A Mystery Wrapped In An Enigma
I doubt we'll ever learn the true story of what happened. Pakistan is one of the most byzantine political systems as there are so many conflicting interests all played off against each other by the military and the IIS...the Pakistani security service. Within the country there's been a long-running battle between secular and religious interests and Mrs. Bhutto has always represented a threat to the religious power structure in the country...not just Al Queda but many other groups. She's not just a woman, but also a Shiite in a predominately Sunni country and her rise to power would be a big threat to the power of the "religious right".

Thanks to this regime's meddling in the region and its propping up Musharaf, it's unpopularity has energized the religious fanatics inside Pakistan who have always had friends inside the Pakistani military (read up on Zia Al-Haq) and now feel emboldened as the U.S. mess in Iraq and Afghanistan work in their favor. IMHO, the real murderer and who he worked for will be a mystery that will be speculated for years. My bets also are Musharaf is being kept in the dark as much as anyone as this was also an attack on his shaky hold on power...hoping for a popular backlash that forces him out. It may still work, but not in a democratic fashion, but with a military junta and one that may not be to boooshie's liking. This regime has played with fire for too long and yet another diplomatic clusterfuck is blowing up in boooshie's face.

Always keep in mind that when the corporate media covers a story, they do it with American blinders on. We only hear about "what's it mean to the U.S." and complex issues are broken down to soundbites. They try to fit events into their running storylines (terror, Al Queda, National Security) and spin it that leaves out many facts and information that create a broader, more realistic picture of what's going on. Thank goodness for BBC coverage of this story.

8. The video tape itself looks chaotic
Edited on Sat Dec-29-07 10:11 AM by undeterred
Anything that happens in a crowd is chaotic. Any assassination that happens in a crowd is going to be analyzed and reanalyzed for years, just as any accident looks different from different perspectives. In this situation the perspectives are so different and the interests are so loaded that its impossible to be objective. It doesn't help that there was no autopsy and she was buried quickly.

The surgeon at Parkland hospital, (where Kennedy was taken) had his story to tell, and he and the team that took care of Kennedy never spoke of it again. But wouldn't theirs be the one which really meant the most?
