What if there is a plan?

(And first, apologies to all who reply since my schedule makes for slow and infrequent replies)

I choose Cheney as the prime mover here, even if there are other interests higher up the food chain. What IF PNAC, Norquist's anti-government crusade, the Federalist Society, "libertarian" free-market capitalism, ambitious Bush dynasty, oil men, bankers in themselves are merely a gaggle of interests. What if the narrow interests and narrow mindedness and short sighted ruthless goals of individual players are not merely a fog of allied evils?

Say those in the Alliance for Regress and Repression are given some of what they want though the rationale and the execution is abominable and a failure. Is it peeling away the layers of a Satanically stupid self-destructive onion?

Or, believing in global warming that they deny others the right to acknowledge and act upon, and knowing the end of all oil games and hegemonies is in sight, could this be a conscious gambit on behalf of a top few and their chosen people? Destroy the US, democratically, economically and gut its citizen ,military until privately owned mercenaries and a few hands on high tech triggers rule. Destroy the potentates of the oil economy, the new Asian countries, the alliances of nations and peoples and all their science and cooperation and sane businesses. Create now what the cynical ruthless would be lords of the survivors believe must happen because they have no trust or hope for general humanity and scorn for their highest instincts. And in their personal fear they rationalize this is the best hope for humanity- an elite survivalist camp in the future areas of competition. Make it happen. Let is happen.

Such an alliance, temporary, competitive like the Hitler/Stalin camp finds as its mutual goal the destruction of positive American power and putting absolute blackmail into the hands of a repressive few. The Saudi Princes, sitting on seething masses would be happy to see America and its uncomfortable values ruined. Cheney would like to see it transformed utterly, and swiftly because of his ill health and age, into his vision. He works for proliferation of the WMD's that cast the dramas and make them both extreme and hopelessly intractable for any decent or sane human to fix. Recast the global awareness by massive propaganda and distortion of language in subservience to power and money. Orchestrate the hate. Play the crimes like a symphony of exploitation for a goal no one except an eventual few could possibly conceive of or share. Corrupt, Ignore, Exploit whatever happens and never let anything that inches toward hope survive. Never take a risk that could directly expose or threaten the power to do this.

What if knowing a lot more than a distorted mind is credited for is behind a great deal of this stubborn madness? All the Bushes might know is that they will be right up there- or in Paraguay- sensing that no matter what else, privilege, profit and power is their goal and guarantee. But maybe there is a knowing and a plan greater than stupidity and fear and monstrously treasonous to everything in the extreme of dominance and survival.

It must be from all that SF I read in my impressionable years. My cynicism increases daily about Cheney et al.

2. Fascism always uses the final copout if it is overturned

If we had given all the wealth of this country to the very rich and completely beggared the entire balance of the population, SURELY the super rich would have voluntarily funded social services to get everyone else in the country on their feet!

If we had eliminated each and every tax on the wealthy and corporate, SURELY revenues would increase!

If we had destroyed the consumer economy by depriving 99.9% of the population the ability to buy ANYTHING, including subsistence items, SURELY the wealthy would have built new manufacturing plants to CREATE DEMAND.

If we obliterated every civil freedom to accomplish the above, SURELY the population would realize it's for their own peace of mind!

If we herd all undesirables (people who think, people who are ill or disabled, people who don't resemble the rich physically, people who aren't WASP Christians) into camps and kill them, SURELY we'll have a permanently orderly and stable system!

If only the emotional people who don't understand our logic hadn't interfered, SURELY we'd have Paradise on earth by now!

Gee, it all looks so incredibly stupid when I type it out. Maybe I should do that more often.
