But before we do, let me get a few things off my chest.
First, I've never understood your appeal. I imagine that whenever you said how great everything is in this country with freedom and justice for all, you weren't talking to people like me who were born and raised in the inner cities and are held to a different standard in the courts and in the culture than those who come from more affluent communities.
Of course, I was never suppose to understand, that's why we have cops who shoot first and never ask questions.
Second, when you said that the anemic economy was working and getting better, I got the feeling that you weren't talking to people like me who had to witness the collapse of our communities. This is because your tax, trade and labor policies were turned against us. Encouraged and promoted corporations who had previously provided living wages and benefits earned by my family and my neighbors, so that we could achieve the good life from our labors, to abandon our communities and leave them as empty husks. Now they are devoid of a chance for progress, all while you and your buddies rake in billions.
Of course, the Chinese and Mexicans were never promised a piece of the American dream.
Third, when you told us that we had to defend ourselves against our enemies, I never understood how an isolated third-world basketcase of a country that never attacked us, that was completely unable of being anything near a military threat against us and, when compared to our level of military expenditure, GDP, and GNP, looked like a elephant standing next to their mouse, all while being surrounded by our military on three sides was just begging for our country to invade it. How this could make any sense?
Of course it doesn't. When you mix oil and fear, any excuse will do.
Forth, when so many of you discount centuries of scientific research and facts about basic biology and supplant it with Bronze Age superstitions, or proffer solutions to problems like the abortion rate and rampant HIV infections that exacerbate those problems and aren't even solutions at all, I wonder if you were ever given an effective education in the first place.
Of course, it makes a lot of sense if you want to control women's bodies instead of allowing them to control their own and prime young minds to believe any crap that you want shovel into them.
And finally, when you tell us that you're protecting our rights and freedoms by taking them away, upholding the law by breaking it or say that you're offering the truth by telling us lies, I wonder if you really respect us at all.
Of course, you don't. Frankly, I find it hard that you ever have any self-respect at all.
Anyway, I right now see that we're incompatible. That is unless you finally understand that a lot of what you do and believe just doesn't make any sense at all. Plus you figure out that fear, hated and stupidity aren't very good guideposts to make things better in this world and is a pretty crappy way of going about your lives, we just won't see eye to eye.
Basically, you need to change. Paul on the road to Damascus, Isaac Newton watching an apple falling, or whatever realization you need to come to, it just has to happen.
So, until then let's just say this: Your thing right now is to recruit supporters who don't think, don't question and don't remember. You only want people to ask "how high?" when you tell them to jump.
Of course, my current friends are people like me who usually look before we leap.
I can see that that scares the living daylights out of you.
Let me assure you that it doesn't have to. Because, there's a lot more to life than being afraid.
