Dear Oprah; filling up stadiums means nothing if their votes don't count
I only say this because after the '04 elections we were desperate over in the election reform forum to find some way to get the word out about all the people in Ohio whose votes went right down the toilet - not to mention all those who weren't even able to get to a voting machine to try and vote. We came up with the idea to ask Oprah (who we considered to be a voice that would be heard by millions and who would surely be outraged when she heard of the hundreds if not thousands of African Americans who were treated like garbage on election day) to do anything within her power to get this info out to the masses. Of course you don't remember a show about it - there was none.

Not speaking out because you didn't have a candidate you believe in? You might not have believed in Kerry and Edwards but there were so many in Ohio who did. We didn't get a chance to bring to light the theft in '04, who knows what new tricks await us in '08? Fill up the stadiums, talk 142 million people into voting for whomever you believe in, but I think your interest is too little, too late.

1. By your definition
nobody should even try, since the system is rigged.

That's pretty weak.

I took it as a way of saying that whatever we do is too little, too late.

6. I'm talking about Oprah, Oprah then and Oprah now.
I'm part of the 'we' who want to right voting wrongs.

7. I hope so, I'm in NC where a group of acitvists worked to unify our
voting systems across the state (and get rid of diebold machines). I'm not familiar with SC and what system you'll be voting on.

5. Blame Kerry for that silence, not Oprah... And have they fixed the system yet?
Probably not.
