So, here we all are, in our own little information fortresses, sending messenger pigeons to the other fortresses, whose owners keep killing them instead of reading the messages.

He views these places as a sort of collective mind, in which each individual is a sort of cell or synapse, discharging as excited by encountered stimuli. The range is wide enough that a great breadth of experience and personality can be brought to bear on most any topic, though each individual, of course, will say about the same thing whenever he or she comments, or at least speak within a certain range. But on almost any topic, someone or other will make excellent sense, and provide some depth of serious knowledge.

I saw that Bemildred is another member of this site. I thought they may have been some author or someone whose name I should recognize.

Although in all candor I don't remember making the comment my friend The Magistrate attributes to me. But then there is a lot I don't remember I suppose. And it is still a good comment whomever made it. That handle is only used here and at a couple other sites I have visited in the past.
