Freepers are thrilled Lott is resigning
they think he's a RINO, and they're happy that Governor Barbour will appoint a "real" conservative. They seem to be hankering for Chip Pickering.

:puke:

12. Probably. Resign and have the sucessor make the appointment. This happens
but only if, in this case esp., you are squeeky clean!

Here's the REEL SPIN: Corrupt VECO CEO Campaign Contributions. More R Senators Involved.

3. They're ungrateful morans

I don't understnad this dislike of Lott. He did they're bidding for a long time. He has a 92.4 lifetime rating with the American Conservative Union. This is during 34 years in the senate. Every senator with a higher rating has been there at least 14 years less than Lott.

17. It was the pork
Small government conservatives couldn't stand Lott because he spent a lot of money on their pet pork barrel projects (think Bridge to Nowhere in Alaska). Many on the Right consider Lott to be one of the premiere poster boys for that excess. When called on it, he basically told them to go Cheney themselves.

The socially conservative religious base seems to like the senator just fine, however.

6. Of course he's a RINO
I mean how many of them damned Christ Killer Jooose has he actually jailed, they really do walk the streets near his home?

I haven't heard him mention the blessed second coming of Christ in at least a week so he must be all loosey-goosey on that rapture thing they look forward too so much.

I heard he also actually had a black guy over to his house to do something other than suck the shit out of the heating vents, he even let him eat off the real china in the dining room. Goddamned RINO all the way.

Fucking freepers, how in the hell can they remember the proper combination of moves required to turn of a computer anyway?

I don't know who the hell ol' Chip is but his name gives him up as the perfect whack-job candidate for these pricks.

11. You got it
People tend to focus on how True Believers™ treat Non-Believers, but they save their real venom for the "fallen" in their own ranks.

I've been noticing over at Free Republic that "failure to be vicious" is essentially a crime in their world now. Mike Huckabee has been putting on the "charm offensive" recently — including an amiable interview in lefty Salon-dot-com — and now I've been seeing Freepers refer to him as "the Christian Socialist." The can't slam him on pro-life or other Christian right metrics, but they slam his on everything else.

13. Lott was once a Democrat (and a DINO at that!):
Lott was raised as a Democrat. He served as administrative assistant to House Rules Committee chairman William M. Colmer, also of Pascagoula, from 1968 to 1972. Colmer, one of the most conservative Democrats in the House, endorsed Lott as his successor in Mississippi's 5th District, located in the state's southwestern tip, even though Lott ran as a Republican. Lott won handily.

Lott's party switch was part of a growing trend in the South. During the 1960s, cracks had begun to appear in the Democrats' "Solid South", as many whites, motivated in part by the national Democratic Party's stance on civil rights, began to switch parties. For example, 1964 Republican nominee Barry Goldwater carried Mississippi by winning an unheard-of 87 percent of the popular vote even as he was routed nationally.

Lott is definitely a bi- racist .. a DINO/RINO racist to the core!

18. And it could be said that Lott is a flip-flopper.
He was a DINO before he was a RINO.

Did I mention, too, that Lott was/is a Chickenhawk? Look at those dates of employment as Colmer's Admin. Assistant (1968 - 1972). Those are the years I served on active duty, including a tour in Viet Nam with 250+ air combat missions.
