Degrees of Separation (sans Kevin Bacon)

How many degrees does it take for each Presidential Candidate, Republican or Democrat to connect to each of these folks who have all been involved in the politics of personal destruction. How far does one have to dig to find a connection?

1) Scooter Libby
2) Mary Matalin
3) Dick Morris


Yes I realize this is too easy, just trying to remind folks of an ugly truth.

2. It's meaningless. Everybody is close to everybody.

For example:

Al Gore -> GHW Bush -> Prescott Bush -> Fritz Thyssen -> Erich Ludendorff -> Adolf Hitler

I personally am 4 degrees from President Andrew Jackson, if you allow connections through people now dead.

I am also 4 degrees from Kevin Bacon, and 3 degrees from Ringo Starr, even though I'm completely outside the "Hollywood circle", living as I do in a small rural Oregon town, and completely outside the entertainment business, being a nerdy retired computer programmer.

Trying to make something of such a meaningless connection is really grasping at straws, especially in DC where everybody knows everybody else, one way or another.

3. I don't think this says much to be honest

I think many people, especially those who attend political meetings, and/or have contact with lots of international students, could find similar links. I am 2 degrees of separation from both Thatcher and Blair, through meetings with my MPs; and 3 degrees of separation from them by other routes. I am 3 degrees of separation from a few past and present members of the Chinese Government, including Mao; and 4 degrees of separation from the Red Baron of Germany! I don't think one can conclude too much from these sorts of indirect links.
