Hypocrites

Is it just me or does it seem that the Soldiers in the Army of the Lord are suddenly and inexplicably revealing their fraudulent natures? Their confused followers must be collectively scratching their pointy anointed heads over some of the recent presidential endorsements issued by these sanctimonious charlatans.

For example, Bob Jones III, Chancellor of Bob Jones University has endorsed Mitt Romney for President despite his stated belief that Romney's Mormon religion is "a cult." So are the Catholics. Why would he do this? Robert Fantina writing at counterpunch.org explained: "Mr. Jones is apparently willing to look the other way and somehow stomach endorsing a Mormon, possibly his second worst nightmare, in order to prevent his worst nightmare, a race between the Republican Satan, former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, and the Democratic Satan, New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. Said he: 'If it turns out to be Giuliani and Hillary, we've got two pro- choice candidates, and that would be a disaster.' Mr. Jones also made the rather bizarre statement that 'As a Christian, I am completely opposed to the doctrines of Mormonism." He was quick to state that he was voting for a president, not a pastor.'"

Speaking of religious wacko hypocrites and the candidates that love them, what in heaven - or hell - would motivate Pat Robertson to endorse Guiliani over, I dunno . . . say, Mike Huckabee, an ordained Southern Baptist minister? Do Pat Robertson's followers have such blind faith in the feckless leader that they honestly believe that the values of a draft-dodging, pro-choice, gay marriage supporter, cross-dressing adulterer and two-time divorcee (with gay roommates) more closely resemble their own than those of, I dunno, say . . . . Mike Huckabee?

Hillary's more socially conservative than this guy, why didn't Robertson endorse her? It would’ve been less shocking to his brain-dead base.

Gail Collins writing in today's New York Times had this to say: " Robertson’s backing will surely give Giuliani a leg up among voters who believe that God sends natural disasters to punish Americans whose school board members believe in the theory of evolution, or who have the bad luck to live near an inclusive amusement park. (He warned Orlando that when Disney World welcomed gay patrons it was letting them in for terrorist attacks, 'earthquakes, tornadoes and possibly a meteor.') Yesterday, Robertson said that America’s Mayor had won him over because 'to me, the overriding issue before the American people is the defense of our population from the bloodlust of Islamic terrorists . . . Our second goal should be the control of massive government waste and crushing federal deficits.' Now this is the part that I have never been able to get. When did government spending become part of the divine agenda? Is there something in the Bible about smiting down federal bureaucrats?"

No, but there is something about getting that power and glory forever and ever and ever . . . Amen and pass the ballot.

Moving from the hypocritical to the absurd, Georgia's Govenor Sonny Perdue, himself the father of a Baptist preacher, is seeking divine intervention in the state's record-setting drought. With no rain in sight, this week Perdue's office began issuing invitations to spiritual leaders from several faiths (probably not Islam) and dominations to participate in a holy rain dance of sorts. Perdue's spokesperson Heather Teilhet said the governor began talking about wanting to host a service to pray for rain on his way back from Washington D.C. last week, adding that "Georgia needs rain. And there is nothing the government can do to make that happen. The governor recognizes that the request has got to be made to a higher power."

Makes you wonder why they don't invite some of the Chiefs or Shamen of the Native American tribesmen who called Georgia their home for thousands of years until the ancestors of white men like Perdue slaughtered them and made their remaining relatives walk the Trail of Tears to concentration-camp-like reservations in the west. But I digress . . . .

Edited to add: Science Diet makes a prescription food to help starved animals fatten up. I think it's called Feline/Canine AD. Our dear, departed Willie was on it at the end because his teeth were bad and it was easy for him to eat.

68. S/he may get under the floor of the house or the porch as HAC

sometimes is sniffing through the boards of the porch floor and running around like crazy. I opened the garage door yesterday and scared it from behind a whiskey barrel planter that it was behind, probably to get out of the wind.

Perhaps I should consider putting out goat's milk with the food and water to help it gain weight. :think:

69. That might be good. I think it's good that you're giving her/him that

a safe place to hang out. There's a stray that hangs out in my mother-in-law's yard, she and her next door neighbor feed it. I feel bad whenever I go out for a smoke in the yard he runs away.

83. Today I made sure that the washing machine was running at the

time that s/he usually shows up, and it was okay with that noise. As it was leaving I opened the door and went out to talk to HAC and to pet her so s/he would get used to the sound of the door opening, my voice, and that I'm not usually nasty to cats. It will take a while if s/he ever gets used to the sounds and comfortable enough not to take off.

HAC has only recently stopped freaking out at the sound of the school bus as it was a school bus that ran over her tail causing it to be amputated when she was a 7 wk. old stray.

Gawd, from the clips and the newsclips...I'm so sick of Dimson**!

I don't blame her for being afraid of school buses. Skid gets freaked out very easily, and I don't know why. He's always been with kind, loving people who never abused him, but sometimes he runs away from us as if we were about to beat him. This behavior pre-dates his trips to the vet. He's just a nutjob, I guess. As far as stray kitty goes, I think s/he'll get the hint as long as you keep putting food out. S/he'll get used to your scent and probably start to associate it with the food.

HAC has adjusted well, but she is skiddish and freaks out about certain sounds, just not the school bus sounds anymore - you know just leaves blowing in the wind :crazy:

I hope that stray kitty gets the message that we aliens are friendly, and I"m impressed that HAC is more curious than combative. I think she's lonely and would like a nice kitty to play with. She and Nosy had their play times and I sense that she misses that.
