Hey DUers do you remember this place a year ago today?
Yes we all want policy change but that victory facilitated all of these resignations and now a Cheney Impeachment is being discussed. Nothing happens overnight. Thank you Dems.

Here is a partial list of prominent Bush administration resignations since the 2006 midterm elections, all of which occurred in conjunction with some sort of major scandal in their relevant field:

* Harriet Miers, White House Consul and former Supreme Court nominee, January 4, 2007
* Francis Harvey, Army Secretary, March 2, 2007
* Monica Goodling, Justice Department White House liaison, April 6, 2007
* Peter McNutly, Deputy Attorney General, May 14, 2007
* Sara Taylor, White House Political Director and microtargeting guru, May 27, 2007
* Dan Bartlett, White House Counselor, June 1, 2007
* Gen. Peter Pace, Joint Chiefs of Staffs Chairman, June 8, 2007
* Rob Portman, White House Budget Director, June 19, 2007
* William Mercer, Acting Associate Attorney General, June 23, 2007
* Jim Nicholson, Secretary of Veterans Affairs, July 17, 2007
* Karl Rove, Senior Political Advisor and Deputy White House chief of staff, August 13, 2007
* Alberto Gonzales, Attorney General, August 27, 2007

2. We should also remember ...
... that not so very long ago, there were posts about "someone actually mentioned the 'I' word today".

Today, the 'I' word got more than mentioned in passing ...

5. Thanks for a great reminder. We have succeeded because the opposition has lost
so much.

And more than that, the public knows now, too.

14. I don't plan to forget election night last year
and while I'd loved to see Bush, Cheney et al in chains, there have been achievements since that victory.

10. And, what really changed?
Nothing ... Bush still vetoes anything he wants, writes signing statements to avoid legislation, and the Dems in Congress, so far, have been nothing but whiny enablers.

Now we have an AG who isn't sure if Water Boarding is torture (even though for 500 yrs it has been deemed to be), an invisible SoD leaving Bush/Cheney at the helm of Iraq/Iran/Afghanistan policy (resulting in largest level of troop deaths annually since the war began), James (QTC http://bluewaternavy.org/justsayno.htm) Peake, etc.

Sorry, replacing the old with the same (or worse), is not the same as 'changing course' - whether it be politicians or political appointees.

11. There's more oversight for one
and when you lie to Congress there are consequences. Ask some of those named above why they have resigned and 'lawyered up'.

This is not a fast food meal, not after six years of malfeasance.

21. What "consequences"?
Name one way in which any of the folks listed has suffered any, real, consequence (loss of income, criminal prosecution, etc.) and I'll be impressed. In the meantime, I'll remain p*ssed that the party of 'accountability' has not been held accountable for anything since Bush took office.

And, as long as they are allowed (enabled by weak Dems we elected in 2006 to disable them) to continue to undermine the Constitution and ignore the will of the people, I will remain 'unimpressed'.

would be required. Dems have not sat down and died. Yes some Dems are corporate stooges, but we have seen tough investigations and Dems have exposed a lot of shit that is going on. These resignations would not have happened without that victory.

19. I've been thinking about our incremental successes for a week
and Dennis lifted my spirits today no matters what happens. The longest journey begins with a single step. I think too many young DUers don't know the time it took to remove Nixon. This is not fast food -this is slow cooking for a great feast.

26. The PNAC plan cannot go forward without a plethora of sheeple
When I checked last, Bush has worst numbers than Nixon. There is resistance to these goons in every sphere. Check yesterday's election results.
