The Thoughts of a Fast Food Panderer.
Because I am one.I saw an earlier thread equating Burger King with "death by food". I must plead Mea Culpa because what they sell, I sell. I am sure that my 80/20 1/4lb all-beef patties are as lethal as their's. My stuff pushes the same horrid cholesterol levels as their's and I push the bacon and cheese as toppings. My fries come out from a bath of trans fats.
In mitigation, I fill a void-the bulk of my diners have just 30 minutes to come to my stand, order, eat, and return to work. I offer soups and stews already prepared and heated, but for food prepared to order fast you are looking at burgers, dogs, chicken patties (also fried) and french fries....or two or three specials.
My diner's are the workers, who at lunch need a fast and tasty infusion of protein to get through an afternoon. I'm not there to reflect a government approved triangle of food servings that is ideal but not inviting. My profits are driven by taste and availability.I do not apologize. Nor should Burger King.
Read the name-no one is taken by surprise. Most American workers have neither the time or the means to order "a healthy lunch". Perhaps it is sad that fast food salad bars have not achieved prominence but we need to change the diners, not the providers...when they beg for salad we will provide it.
